What the club says: Isla Canela Golf is a 5937m long course which is 'user-friendly' whilst at the same time challenging course for golfers of all standards. Any player with medium handicap can enjoy it because the greens are generous in width, true and most of them easy to reach.
Really spectacular water hazards which surround some holes come directly from the river forming natural lakes. Gorgeous and also difficult is the second hole par-5. Not particularly long, only 447m, but well bunkered and with a stream which cuts across the fairway a couple of times and comes into play.
Difficult holes:
-Par-4 fourteenth is 383m long dog-leg to the left.
-Par-5 seventeenth is 489m long where a big lake awaits the wayward drive and the second shot has out of bounds on the left.
-Par-4 eighteenth of 373m has out of bounds on both sides of the fairway.

good double course venue
We selected this venue as it had two courses and a decent hotel for a group of 8 travelling golfers who needed better weather than prevalent in the UK. Early March. Food and accommodation was of a decent and acceptable quality providing for an excellent and enjoyable trip away with old and new friends. Art this time of year take insect repellent with you as there is lots of water and natural lagoons and this is breeding season for mosquitoes. Links course offers an intriguing challenge and the Old course wraps itself around the hotel accommodation and is walkable. Links courses requires a 10 minute vehicle transfer that is provided by the hotel. Liked the different style of courses available.Despite maintenance work the greens were true and well maintained. A good venue for the travelling golfer. nearby town of Adamant offers a range of decent restaurants and bars.Located near to Spanish and Portuguese border at the junction of the river and sea.Reviewer Rating

Enjoyable round on perfect course for me. No lakes to cross, few streams, wide fairways.

Enjoyable easy walking course
I played this on my own on an afternoon twilight rate in early june which was great value. Course was pretty quiet and layout was forgiving and quite flat so an easy walk with a push trolley. Greens and Bunkers in great nick. Only downside was poor quality of standard hire clubs although I still played well enough.Reviewer Rating

Course is a good hotel course - it is an easy walk and some varied holes with quite a few with water but overall a playable course although a hard one to score well on as the greens are fast and some hard. I enjoyed playing this course a few times, excellent venue for novice golfers as there is a driving range and putting green.
