Fioranello is a quaint golf club and course with some testing holes that suggests the course difficulty rating should be higher. The location is near Ciampino airport just outside Rome and there are some nice views of the Castelli Romani area and hole 10 has an aqueduct running alongside it. The fairways are generally well kept and the bunkers are all in good condition. The greens are mostly in good condition although they have had some issues which they are doing their best to deal with. Some aspects of the course are not so well designed; for example, there are two greens that sit on top of high mounds (holes 6 and 16) that are unreasonably difficult given that you have no idea where your ball ends up until you get up there. Some greens are hard and slope down from front to back making it difficult to get a ball to stop (e.g. hole 10), and hole 9 is a very long par 3 with a tiny green. There are lots of tricky and well designed holes too, such as hole 3 which requires a good tee shot to open up a route to the green over a stream and dogleg left. I like that there are short par 3s (holes 2 and 11) as well as long par 3s (holes 4 and 9) and one medium length par 3 (hole 17) which is very tricky. Worth mentioning is the pitch & putt course which is fun to play. The practice range is rather narrow and quite far from the club-house and first hole. Club-house is pleasant with nice staff. Overall a very nice course and very reasonably priced, especially if you play in the afternoon and/or have membership of some golf associations.
