Most Helpful Review

Long testing & varied parkland course with great greens in excellent condition where you will use all the clubs in your bag. At 6440 yards off the yellows it's longer than the back tees of many other courses proving to be a real test. Nice clubhouse which is shortly due to be renovated. Great food & sky TV. Has a well stocked pro shop along with a decent grass practice range. - Jun 3 2014

Nice course & club house
Course and greens in good condition. Tight fairways and close together - don't want to stray too far. Clubhouse staff very friendly. Would definately return

Challenging if your not straight although lost balls are rare. Great condition all round. Greens are all true.

Great course
Great course, although we get quite dry condition as it had not rained for a while. Some very memorable holes.

Great course well worth playing
Despite the recent inclement weather the course is drying out well and I'm sure it won't be long before the high standards achieved last year for the course and greens, is matched again this year. Much work has been done throughout the winter months clearing areas around the course, which should in turn help speed up the rate of play by making it easier to find balls from errant shots.
The extension and refurbishment of the clubhouse is now complete and looking very good.
Green keepers and staff behind the bar are all very friendly and there is a good atmosphere within the club.

Difficult course but an easy walk
Played here last week. The course is in very good condition especially in view of the weather we have had. This is a good test of golf but the terrain makes it a relatively easy walk. There has been a lot of work done since I last played there including a much improved clubhouse.

Rude Ground Staff. Unenjoyable experience. Not worth the money.
Played at Bentley on the 14/03/2018, and was looking forward to the round after seeing good reviews of the course. At £35 a round it was higher than most courses in Essex but thought it's worth the shot.

Without being told we run into trouble, greens closed due to maintenance, ground staff cutting down trees and for some reason, decided to burn them at the tee boxes.

Heavy, thick smoke covered the air leaving the view very difficult, not to mention a chesty cough & one of my friends struggling to breathe due to being ahsmatic.

We was shocked how the pro shop didn't bother to notify us before/after we paid, but more than happy to take our money and find out for ourselves.

Golfing etiquette is a major thing, all courses I play normally deal with this well, eg grass cutters stopping the machines to allow silence for our shots, but at Bentley it was quite different, several Chain saws going off 10 foot away from you.

After we questioned the heavy black smoke and the sound to the ground staff, one replied 'This is our f****g course, not yours, get on with it*.

It's a course that we feel was not worth the value, and a lot better courses out there, with better standards on how to treat their customers, and where your site will be visible throughout the round and not come up with a chesty cough.

Won't be returning to this course, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else should.

Andrew.

A challenging course worth playing
Course was pretty wet, so only carrying was permitted, however all greens were in use and very playable. The clubhouse is currently being extended and undergoing some modernisation which is due to be completed by end of February 2018.

Very nice, tricky course
fantastic condition throughout. Quite a few narrow fairways and some well placed bunkers. Plus quite a few ditches.
Easy to score badly if not familiar with the course

One of Essex finest
Play hear once a year, one of my favourites, greens are nicely rolled and manicured. Some challenging Tee shots make this a great challenge. The food is always great.

A lovely drive to this course
A nice little gem this one. A few holes give you a challenge to lay up or try to drive. The food on our particular day was lovely sat outside having a BBQ and homemade puddings.
