What the club says: Set in over 500 acres of the magnificent Wollaton Park, the course, which is overlooked by the imposing 16th century Wollaton Hall, is traditionally parkland in character. It is pleasantly undulating and winds its way through historic woodland which incorporates many fine specimens of trees.

The course itself, which has hosted many important championships, the latest being one of the popular Seniors Tour events, was set out in 1927 and was designed by Tom Williamson. It has been sensibly upgraded over the years to provide a fair test of ability for both the beginner and the experienced golfer alike, measuring 6,445 yards with a par and standard scratch of 71.

beautiful course

Wollaton park as always played very well despite the wet conditions. The layout is fairly simple but the holes around the hall are beautiful. The back 9 is cracking but the front 9 is quite flat and unimaginative. Greens were beautiful and the course is well kept.

Lovely setting in deer park. The stags were quite boisterous and had to wait for them to move on. Take caution.

Course been pretty good over the winter. Some maintenance work ongoing but generally good and mostly on full greens which is nice. Provides a good test on a nice varied layout set within the grounds of a deer park so some lovely views. Worth playing.

Lovely parkland course

Recently played for the second time in 2 years and still fun to play. Course is well laid out and whilst set within a deer park is somewhat akin to an inland links/heath course. Keep it on the short stuff and you will do okay but stray and you might find yourself in trouble from some of the rough depending on the time of year. Greens have generally been good and in great condition.

Would definitely recommend this course, fun to play, provides a challenge and a nice varied layout set within a beautiful park. Watch out for the deer though that often make their way on to the course

Visiting Nottingham with the other half, clubs in the boot of the car Turned up unannounced with my clubs to play a one ball and was accommodated for without hesitation. Lovely setting with some interesting holes. A number of par 4's over 400 yards keeps you honest. Course in remarkable condition considering the unrelenting rain over recent weeks (a couple of temporary greens but I was amazed there weren't more).

Enjoyable

Nice course layout with some lovely views.

Some holes are nice and wide and others you need to do a bit more thinking so it does give good variety for a mixture of abilities.

Was a bit of work ongoing on a couple of holes and I'm sure once that is finished I'm sure it will only improve what is a nice course.

Premier Notts City coures

One of the top courses in Nottingham city set within a deer park providing a interesting and varied layout with a slight inland links feel.

We played in early March and were slightly disappointed with the conditions and set-up but understand we were playing in winter. The greens had just had maintenance so hopefully by mid March they should be back to the top class best. There was also some additional maintenance work taking place with a few temp tees and a few areas fenced off due to either maintenance work or the deer?

This is a course definitely worth playing and one of the best in Nottingham city but during our visit it didn't quite live up to previous expectations nor the premium winter green fee. Looking forward to going back and would recommend to other golfers.

loved the layout ,a real challenge. Amazing to think that this course is so close to the city centre, given the expanse of wildlife and deer population. The rough is penal but managed very well so balls can be found if they stray.

Lovely Traditional parkland course

Golfshake Team ReviewVery enjoyable. Spoke to one of the gents in pro shop a while back who was so nice i made a note to play here on that basis. £30 with a county card is good. Course is nice, the roaming deer are like at Forest of Arden. Greens are lovely, the whole setting is nice we paused a few times to take in the sights. Highlight was when we stood on 6th tee and ALL the deer walked up top cross the fairway in front of us and stopped and waited when the first player stood on the tee.....maybe they learnt their lesson!?

Parkland course in a deer park

Golfshake Team ReviewLovely course in the city within a deer park which does mean you have to watch out for the deer roaming at time.

Nice variety of holes and alwasy well kept with decent greens. Parts of the course in the back 9 are partly exposed so you can get a bit of wind but well worth a visit.

We play as part of a society and play different courses around the East Midlands every 3/4 weeks.
We called the club shop in the Tuesday and asked if we could book 2 tee times for 2 4 balls.
We were told that tee times cannot be booked and it's just a case of turn up and play.
We turned up on the Sunday morning only to be told that we weren't allowed to play unless we were accompanied by a member. If this is the clubs policy then fair enough but this wasn't relayed to us when we enquired about booking nor is this stated on the website. Some members in our society have travelled quite some distance to play today!
This was extremely poor customer service and they didn't seem particularly bothered about our situation.

Lovely parkland course, could hardly believe we were in a City centre. Great condition, for the time of year, quite tight in places with bunkers a many. Played over the Christmas period and the course was busy so had to be mindful of keeping up with play, felt like speed golf at times but wouldn't hesitate to play again.
