Whitehead Golf Club

A great golf courses with the best scenery around. I really enjoyed the panoramic views on all holes, and for me the 4th tee box is the most stunning tee box of any golf course I have ever played including the likes of Royal County Down and Royal Portrush the 4th at Whitehead is simply unbelievable as you have views of Scotland and the cliffs of the Antrim Coastline not to mention the stunning backdrop for Whitehead itself. The course is challenging but rewarding and favors a long hitter but you need to ne straight of the tee as a lot of trouble lurks especially on the back 9 where 12,13,15 the hardest holes on the course are present. The pro shop is well stocked with everything a golfer could dream off as well as 2 of the best pros in the area. The club has great warm up facilities including a putting green a net an indoor swing zone with trackman and a short game area as well as a section to work on wedge play up to 125 yards. The course was in incredible condition with fast greens, short fairways and perfect tee boxes. I will definitely be back to Whitehead golf club in the near future and until then I look forward to my next visit.

Good

I was going to say it's a typical small town NI course but that would be unfair to the front 9 which has a links/cliff top feel to it. Bottom 9 is more parkland with some very good par 4s. Small tricky greens.

Challenging Trek

Being a former member of Whitehead, where I've fond memories, I was surprised how poorly I played, when I know the course so well, But i forgot how tough it can be and the weather was not so kind during the front 9, with frequent heavy showers . But overall the course was in good nick, but I noticed a few bare patches on the greens, no doubt caused by the excellent weather we had in July.

Decent course. Almost like a links course, with some very nice views of the city from up high. Wind can be an issue but makes it more challenging.

Excellent Pro Shop with Colin Farr as the pro. The course starts as a hilly 1st an 2nd which challenge a first or not regular player. The rest of the course has different challenges involving pretty tight holes as well as exposure to the elements make this a test for most levels. Situated on the Antrim coast, depending on the time of year you will have an interesting and challenging round of golf.
