Wettest golf ever

Because of Covid 19 our golf holiday to Portugal was cancelled. We ended up at Wensum. I bet the course would have been really good if we hadn't chosen the wettest days ever to play 4 rounds there, 2 on each course. Hotel was ok but with limited entertainment. The food was very good and the staff were all very nice and friendly. Rooms were adequate but very basic.

Disappointing Weekends Golf

Booked to play both course over the weekend.....unfortunately there had been a lot of rain which is out of anyones control. On asking in the club shop how the course was playing, he responded with "its a bit wet in places but still playing well" I asked for recommendation for some nearest the pins for our society on the Valley Course that we played on the Saturday which he recommended. On heading out to the course we were faced with 15 temp greens that he hadn't mentioned! The temp greens were just a rough patch of bumpy grass and mud. It was also often hard to tell what was fairway and what was the rough at times. For the temp greens a bit of care in roping these off from trolleys / buggies when not in use would protect them and give a better experience when they do have to be used..... Also buggies not allowed, again fine due to the weather, but when 2 members off the group who struggle to walked round asked about trolleys they were told, yes we have plenty, come and get one before you tee off......only to find out they then had non left when they went to get them....if a group has reserved buggies....maybe they could check with the group if they need trollies instead.....this resulted in one of our group not being able to play the full 18 and not being able to play at all on the Sunday due to a bad back. On the Sunday we played the Wensum....all greens in play and the course played well despite the rain and wind. Both days the first group had to carry the nearest pins and longest driver markers with them and the club shop wouldn't take them out for us.......As a society I wouldn't not return as there is no care and attention to make it a great golfing weekend that we have had elsewhere.....The hotel staff though were attentive in the evening and the food was good.

Worth a visit

A course and facility that has definitely improved over the last couple of years. What was a relatively small pro shop is now a splendid facility offering excellent, friendly service. The courses are both well maintained, if there is a weakness it is the condition of a minority of bunkers. Every hole is interesting.

Gem of a hotel and golf location in Norfolk

Played and stayed with a friend over a weekend, two courses, one being parkland and long, the other being shaped around wetlands and river, which is very easy to lose balls on! Two good tests and variety of holes, great condition. Fairways with summer heat played like glass, meaning a 300yd drive was often possible, hotel isn?t up to much, dated and empty geared to weddings I expect, but good golf venue and pro shop first class

Social golf

Firstly, I was unable to use my garmin watch as it did not recognise the course, even though my watch is up to date, only the valley course, so not too happy before I started my round. Generally I enjoyed my round, except for the five holes on the back nine which are severely punctuated with water. However, the course was not in bad order, the greens a bit slow.

Maldon 4Ball @ Wensum

We had an excellent weekend of golf at Wensum to great contrasting course. The overall facilities are excellent and they also had a couple of real ales on hand pump. If you love golf you must play the two Wensum courses.

Good golf course

Had a good day at a Wensum Valley Golf course on Friday. The greens were in good condition. The fairways were also pretty good. All the bunkers had plenty of sand in them. Which is not the case on some courses!

Great Condition despite all the rain!

The Valley course drains well and is in superb condition. The greens are smooth and this week are like putting on glass a light touch and the ball glides to the hole!
