never played before
Thornton's first 6 holes are back and forth and all pretty close to each other but after that the course opens out and is pretty nice to play - the last 4-5 hug the boundary of the course with water, rough and out of bounds dominating but nice challenging holes(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 84 Handicap: 12.6)

Great parkland course, well managed, good greens and fairways. Challenging enough yet offering open space for the wayward tee shot. Facilities good and the staff and club members were most welcoming.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: )

Disappointed
Played today was disappointed. Course drainage was not the greatest but given the weather this could be overlooked. Nice glossy website and the little of the club house I saw looked welcoming -shame it was closed at 4pm when I finished my round despite advertising it was open. Was looking forward to relaxing in the welcoming bar with a nice pint but ...... The course was in good condition despite of the weather but overall it gives the impression that Thornton Golf Club is not open to visitors.Reviewer Rating

This course has come on leaps and bounds over that last 30 years Originally only nine holes, it was extended and a new full service clubhouse built. The members and committee deserve great praise to have turned the course into the place it is.

Nice parkland course. Quite flat, and trees line most fairways punishing shots which aren't straight!! Greens were in fantastic condition and quick.

Great course if you're starting off in the game. Quite fast but enjoyable. Met some great regulars who invited me to go round with them and were good entertainment.

We played in an Open Fourball Betterball @£20 per pair. The course was fairly flat, tight in places and in very good condition although three different coloured flags confused us till a member informed us why. Balls were found relatively easy but the punishment for wayward shots was the trees hmmm the damn trees.!!!
