Situated on the A307 Portsmouth Road, just off the A3 Thames Ditton and Esher Golf Club is easily accessible. Thames Ditton & Esher GC is a pretty 9 hole course on the SW London / Surrey border. Where local courses are charging £50 to £75, £17 will get you 9 holes or £26 for the full 18. There are practice nets and a putting green, along with changing facilities and a bar/cafe.
The course is a fair test, and will provide a challenge for most ability levels, with 5 different tees on each of the 9 holes. In the summer it plays as a fast running links, and drains well in the winter to allow year around play. The members and staff will provide a warm welcome whenever you visit, so if you have a couple of hours free, maybe drop by for 9!

Many hazards to be cleared by high shots over long grass. one green just sand had been vandalised. most fairways narrower than most courses. You paly the same 9 holes twice from different tees.

Great course!

This course is a good family, friendly course. It offers a good challenge for new golfers as it is a bit shorter, however it is tight in areas.

Links like fairways on 4 and 5.

On the third you can just see the top of the flag; sunken green par 3; good hole. Rough in the surrounds around this area, they are probably limited on how much they can cut the rough. Four requires a carry of over 150 if you go up the left, more room than you think from the tee here. A bit of an intimidating tee shot with the rough surrounds; slightly blind shot. 5 a bit shorter than the previous hole hitting down the same fairway as four. Lumps and bumps down this fairway, feels Linksy. Little shelf on the right hand side of the fifth green, then green runs right to left. 7 a tricky par three with a huge oak on the left before the green. 8 plenty of rough up the left; quite tight. 9 a dogleg left, you can bail your tee shot out right down 2nd fairway, you will have to approach over a tree for your second though.

Challenging 9 holes

Nine holes that are good for beginners and those not keen on 18. It's not a great layout and the condition is poor but it is public access land so that might explain it.

fair course not outstanding but reasonable value

Course in fair condition, greens average and rough full of grassy mounds so very difficult lies if short or a little off line. Some holes challenging requiring elevated drives to clear rough before reaching fairway. Not a beginners place to play. Many pedestrian paths with dog walkers to be avoided. Shares car park with a great English pub the Marquis of Granby at the Scilly Isles roundabout.

A Common course

This course is on common ground and walkers and dogs abound. A lot of the rough is unplayable so I used lots of balls. You need to keep to the fairways if possible a challenge.
