What The Club Says
The golf course measures 6,329 yards and has a par of 70 and a SSS of 71. It generally plays longer than its yardage due to the elevations of several greens and fairways. Although originally a heath land course, there is now an abundance of mature trees and shrubs that line its fairways.
The greens are always true and fast and will test the very best of players. Peter Alliss has described our 17th hole as “one of the best short holes in the South of England”. The course is always in excellent condition throughout the year, and as written in the Michelin Guide “It is well worth a detour”. Martin Hawtree, the renowned international golf course architect, has redesigned Sonning’s original Taylor/Colt layout and has produced an impressive new 18th hole that finishes in front of the clubhouse. With an excellent practice range and short game area, Sonning provides some of the best facilities in the South of England.

Lovely parkland course
Really nice course, east of Reading. Green fees are circa £50-60. Course is not too long, and there is no water, so more parkland than anything. Well established course with nice greens and in very good condition. Staff in the pro shop and the bar were helpful and friendly. The practice range is alongside the 8th, and also has a chipping area. I really enjoyed my round - pace of play was good - we were a two ball and played 18 holes in 3 hours 15 minutes. Hopefully will play it again soon.Reviewer Rating

Great winter round
Course in great condition given the time of year - greens were bumpy from footprints, but hard to avoid.Pace of play was poor given a few groups who didn't know/weren't told etiquette on letting people play through so as a 2-ball our round was much longer than expected.
Bar was closed when we got in at 4pm, well it was open but nothing on tap was being served, which was a shame.

A little gem
Friendly welcome. Lovely breakfast and good value. Considering the dry weather over the Summer, the course was in excellent condition. Really enjoyed the visit and will be back. Highly recommendedReviewer Rating

Fantastic course
Lovely course - quite difficult ; nine holes are longer than 400 yards, seven of which are Par 4's. Lovely setting, good greens (not super fast but true and undulating). No discernible water but lots of bunkers. Some very memorable holes. Even the short holes aren't easy. Not somewhere to take an occasional player.Reviewer Rating

Course in pretty good condition but for second year running the greens were slow and could have done with a cut, so don't be fooled by the pace of the putting green.
