What the club says: Sheringham Golf Club was formed in 1891 as a nine hole course, which was extended in 1898 to a full eighteen holes. The course is laid out on the west side of the town on a strip of rolling, gorse-clad clifftop that lies between the preserved North Norfolk Railway and the North Sea. Noted for its long par 4 holes it is a severe test of players' ability, especially when the wind blows!

Not a bing fan of teeing of over other holes especially greens.
Some lovely holes, especially with the steam train chugging past.
Some members need to learn some basic manners as they let the course down.

Sea, trains & Golf
So, with steam trains chuntering up and down one side of the course and cliffs and the north sea on the other, what's not to like? Well thought out course with plenty of features - avoid the walkers and the gorse and you will be OK!Reviewer Rating

The course was in excellent condition. Bunkers and greens in particular were first class. Fantastic location with stunning views. A real challenge, but fair.

Good but?
I always look forward to playing at Sheringham and always find the links course challenging and enjoyable, but it's not in the greatest of nick at the moment. They seem to be doing work around the course clearing away overgrown areas and when we played all bunkers were GUR. They were in a terrible state! Nobody provided any explanation and one would have thought a discount should have been applied to the green fees, but none unfortunately. I will be back but let's hope it's in better nick next time.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic, pay for quality!
brilliant links course, up and down along the cliffs of North Norfolk. Amazing setting and course in great condition in June. Wind coming in quite well off the sea, so some drives you had to aim out to sea slightly and watch it get blown back inland, quite unnerving but great feeling when you land it on the deck!(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 80 Handicap: 14.6)

Tougher than a well done steak
Amazing course, great practice facilities, friendly locals. a tad expensive at £120 a round but when you play you can see shy. It's a course you need to play a few times to get the hang of the layout and distances and although i played poorly (22 points) i would definitely play again.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 98 Handicap: 13.9)

Exceptional Course
Fantastic course with great views of the sea on many holes. Every hole is a challenge, but gives the average golfer a chance. Greens are well kept. And to cap it all you will hopefully see the steam train power by, especially on the 1st and 17th holes.Reviewer Rating

A tough challenge
This was the first course on our trip and on a windy day it was a tough challenge. Glad we had buggies and it can be steep, and they give you more time to find your ball on a typical links course. Greens were fast and deceptive. Really enjoyed it. Bonus is the steam train line running alongside the course!Reviewer Rating

Wait till you get to the fourth
To be frank the first three holes here aren't that special. But just hold your nerve until you get to the fourth. From that point on it's stunning all the way home. The long par fours, are beautiful and brutal in equal measure, especially into the wind.
There's truly a stunning 200 yard, downhill par three that most won't reach with a driver if the wind is up to less than a breeze.
The views of the course and the coast line are fabulous. The fairways are pretty generous in the most part and the greens were in excellent condition.
The clubhouse is large and comfortable, and the welcome couldn't be warmer.
They obviously have a different view of what a "light lunch" is in this part of the world because, not only was it very tasty, it was huge!
Definitely one on the play again list.
