Return to where i started

had not played the course for a year, the weather was not that good but the rain held off mostly. The course was in great condition with excellent greens. A little slow but given the amount of recent rain understandable. Fairways very good . This is the course where I started to play golf a few years ago and it was a pleasure to return. Its well worth a visit.

Fantastic condition, beautiful views

This course is very well maintained, discounting severe weather, can play all year round. Variety of holes to test your game. Beautiful views of the coast and the downs. Then relax in substantial clubhouse, excellent facilities and food.

Friendly staff in pro shop and bar, course in mid winter 50% mats and a couple of temporary greens, so not bad and only some of the greens spiked. Relatively short course, but with a few challenging holes.

Fantastic course, lovely views

The course is in a lovely condition considering the winter we have had. There has been extensive work carried out over the past few years and it is all now coming to fruition. The greens are in fantastic condition. The views are superb, out over the downs or towards the cliffs at Culver Down. There is an abundance of wildlife too.

Played there in a match for my club. Very friendly people and good facilities. Greens a little slow due to recent weather conditions and the stroke index 1 is definitely correct! I will definitely ask to play again in this fixture.

Very tricky course but amazing views and really well kept greens. Highly recommended to any golfer of a below 18 handicap. Good food as well.

Great course- easier than I expected. Greens very good nick, but surprisingly slow. Great views from high points. Nice facilities and well stocked pro shop. This is not a links course- despite some others' review comments. Well worth a visit. Slightly priceyat £40. Handicap 21 shot 85.

Great course, much improved since my last visit with cleaning of some areas and generally better upkeep. Definitely worth a visit if on the island.

Part of a society match attracted a discount off the £60 a round. Course was very wet and some greens difficult as a result. The course was challenging but a joy to play on. Car park is small, no driving range and no electric carts. Enjoyed the day.

Very enjoyable course with some great holes. The 13th is a hole that would be a credit at any copurse in Country. Good clubhouse and we had a good meal there too. Pro Shop was very friendly and we will definitely go back. Course was in excellent condition. We were told a fairly new head greenkeeper is doing very good work - I would agree with that on the basis of what we saw.

An interesting, quirky links golf course on the Isle of Wight. Set inland but still close enough to the sea to have a changing wind that influences every shot when it blows Shanklin and Sandown is a course well worth trying out. Featuring a real mix of holes the course winds its way in and our of itself presenting you with different chanllenges and constantly playing in different directions which keeps you on your toes wind-wise. The personal highlights for me were the uphill par 3 to a blind green and the dogleg 10th which requires 2 good strikes to get to the green. At £36/round midweek its not the cheapest but value enough to encorage you to try.
