still worth a visit

after the long break course looked and played a little dated , poor greens and fairways not cut, but now played 3 times in last 6 weeks the course looks the part , greens run true and staff always very welcoming , just a note though 9 holes after work for ?15 a little steep I thought .
will always come at least once a month as its only minutes from work , well worth a visit and see for yourself.

Good Course

Friendly and challenge. Some fairways needed a cut as grass thick and long others perfect. Enjoyed the day

Leaf it out

Nice course and great greens but as previous reviewers have stated the course is badly let down by the amount of leaves covering the fairways and semi-rough areas. Lost 4 balls to straight drives literally because of the cover, these should have been mowed or cleared away.

That said the course itself proved a more than adequate challenge, the greens were in good nick and the staff really helpful and friendly.

Usually play Ramsey in early June of each year, in their Senior Open. At ?27.50; it's great value, so there are around 12 to 15 from my club who play each year. The course is reasonably short, and an interesting layout with a few blind tee shots. It is quite flat apart from the odd embankment to play over (and to play from for a couple of tees). The food is always good (which is one of the things that keeps us coming back each year). I was told the beer is quite expensive, but I didn't participate. This year there was quite a bit of cut grass (hay) lying around, but this is the same as at my local course. We were warned to keep a close eye on the line of the ball, to not only keep the pace moving, but so as not to lose balls and so delay the round. There are lots of mature trees around, so it's a lot easier to play when you have figured out the best side of the fairway to go for to get a good view down the hole. The greens are quite small, and this year were a little slow, but consistent. Bunkers seemed to be good as well (only went in one). Tees were a little long, but not so long as to cause a problem. We were warned about dog-walkers, who can be a bit of a problem apparently, but the ones we saw mainly seemed to be aware of us golfers. Overall I like the course and will keep coming back, especially for there organised Seniors event.
