March Golf Club review

March Golf Club is a friendly and well run venue. I cannot speak for events, catering or bar facilities. But its often used and reviews seem good. My review is about membership and the course. Membership runs from April to March. It at this point in time is a resealable amount providing expectations of facilities are met. I then settled and mid year paid in full. The course which I will talk about later now does not meet my expected expectations due its very poor state. If you mid season cancel your membership you will not be refunded. This point was not documented or explained in membership contract. Had I continued in monthly payments I would own nothing and not be at a £450 loss. The club without notice also charges a water levy. Thats a hidden extra. The course layout is nice enough. The Tee's are often pitch scared and frankly awful. The fairways are being played as preferred lay. For good reason. Weather obviously has its part to play but its a common practice that players do not repair pitch march. The ground is so bare and hard I often are not able to cleanly play the ball. The bunkers do not play well because of the lack of sand. Again people dont rake after use. The greens. Holes, cracks, divots, mud. The list goes on and on. I have attached a picture to just one of many greens. The course is in an awful playing condition. Ive played 25 other courses this year and this by far is the worst. There are building projects taking place which obstruct play. The booking system is ignored and people just dont book and turn up and force or push back on your booked T time. This course in the last year has gone from pleasant to awful. Its a great disappointment to me and my expectations and feeling forced to leave now learn i will lose the remaining years club fee is the final insult. I wish the club well abd hope it can turn around its standard. But be warned should you wish to play or become a member.

Rude!

Rude members spoilt a lovely time. Questioning us on all manner of matters while trying to play! Shouting conversations while teeing off. Nasty experience. Shame as the course is otherwise wonderful

Great Course but maybe not for beginners?

loved the course and had a great time playing, just had some people behind us on the back 9 who were very rude although we weren't the ones holding up. kind of off putting but apart from that. it was fun

Great Course

This course is amazing! The pro is one of the best in my opinion and taught me everything that I know today since I was 7yrs old. If that longevity and returning custom to this course isn't proof enough then I don't know what would be. The 19th hole is a great place to relax post round and you can't beat their sandwiches on both the warmest and frostiest of days. The holes are laid out in a well flowing style and the fairways, greens and tees are kept in amazing condition both down the amazing groundsman and the great community that plays there. The course displays the local scenic views well and I can't think of a better place to play on a Saturday!
