What The Club Says
The course, 6,212 yards, with an SSS of 70 and par 71, has a challenging variety of holes, varying lengths of par 4's and challenging par 5's. It has a blend of long and short holes which require good course management and careful shot making decisions have to be made. A couple of ponds come into play and you are never far away from a dyke which runs from Askham Bog. When the fairways have been negotiated, some of the trickiest greens in the north of England await. This is when the good putter comes to the fore. Altogether, it makes Pike Hills a most enjoyable course and, at the same time, a testing game for golfers of all abilities.

Friendly Golf Club
Pike Hills has quite tight fairways. I feel the back nine are more interesting than the front nine. The front nine are closely associated with Askham bog, so be aware that there are quite a few mosquitoes around in summer, particularly on holes 6 and 7. The driving range and putting green are very user friendly. The balls on the range vary in quality, but at ?1.00 for thirty with a card, very good value.Reviewer Rating

Interesting hidden away course !
I say hidden away, this course is off the A64 to York so is effectively hidden in plain sight ! But once you get within the grounds of the course you begin to see how nice it looks and how interesting some of the holes seem. The front nine is perfectly fine, many straight holes with no too much trouble. You play the 4th and unfortunately because the signage for the next tee off point is in a place where you might not see it, we took a really long walk to find out we were at the 7th and had to walk back again. But once you get to the 7th hole things get a lot more interesting and I would say from that hole onwards this is a course everyone would like. Lots of interesting layouts and hazards to avoid, the 15th is a beast of a par 3 mainly because you hitting towards the A64, with the car park and clubhouse left and people on other greens right. A very careful hit ! We would certainly return in better weather as it was raining the greens on some holes were nearly unplayable with standing water everywhere. For ?20 we thought it was good value and the clubhouse was nice and the staff were helpful and inviting. We will return when the sun is out !Reviewer Rating
