What the club says: The golf course, which is situated only a mile and a half from the city centre of York, and is a parkland course with tight fairways, small greens and a substantial number of mature trees of diverse species.
Although it is a relatively short course (6105 yards) it is a definite test for golfers of all abilities. It is not easy to ‘burn it up'. The secret of a successful round is straight hitting and accepting one's punishment when in trouble. The four par three holes are rated as the toughest par threes in the York Union of Golf Clubs. The course's antiquity is reflected in the quality of the greens.

Members appeared very friendly towards visitors. What the course lacks in yardage is made up with tight narrow fairways. Drives must be arrow straight or you find yourself in the trees. Enjoyed my visit the course was in excellent condition certainly would play the course again.

Quirky course layout with the sequence of holes not that clear. It is really an 11 hole course...i felt the course played longer than indicated and has some tough holes...especially in a 25 mile an hour wind.

Tricky little course with narrow fairways and plenty of trees. Greens were fantastic, much better than anticipated. I wasn't expecting too much for the price but was pleasantly surprised. The members were very friendly and let my brother and I play through. Would be an excellent course if it had the full 18 holes. Nevertheless, well worth the money and well worth a knock.

Cracking little course with lots of character. Well presented when we played on the Friday afternoon. Members were very friendly. The par 3 double green on the 8/17th hole sticks in my mind. Absolute bargain for £15 a round

Cheap deals to be had here. Shared greens on some of the holes stop it from being a very good course, but enjoyable none the less. Recommended for a change of scenery from your usual course.

We played the course after the weekend that was very windy, there was a lot of debrie about on the course, a number of the holes are doubled up as well so as you are playing the front 9 some players are playing the back 9 on the same hole, this was quite confusing and held up play
