What the club says: Newmachar Golf Club is home to the Hawkshill and Swailend courses, which were both designed by Dave Thomas. The Hawkshill Course was opened for play in September 1990 and is a Championship Course. The Swailend Course was opened in June 1997. This 6,323 yard, par 72 is constructed on rolling countryside, where some 26,000 trees have been planted, giving an added character to the layout.
A trackman driving range is on site offering practice and warm up facilities with both indoor and outdoor bays, along with a short game chipping area.

Challenging But Scenic
Lovely course, providing various challenges for the average golfer.Very scenic, with holes over water and through trees.
Played as a visitor as part of a competition and would happily play the course again.
Great facilities and food, with very friendly and helpful staff.

Course was in good nick for the time of year. Staff very friendly and helpful couldn't do enough for you. Love playing there and would always recommend the club.

Overrated
Overrated club. Swailend is a better test of golf, but is so open it becomes easy. Hawkshill is over hyped, just play safe of the tee and it's really easy. Hit driver and you risk finding trees and will struggle for par. But with some course management, it's easy. Fairways are often in poor condition. Greens are good. The course was in good condition apart from the greens where a lot of grass seed was put down. The driving range was getting revamped but apart from that the course was in good nick. The bar staff were really friendly and the meals were quick and excellent value for money.

The fairways had a few divots that were not replaced but the greens were well kept and fast. The staff were really helpful and friendly. I would definitely play the course again and recommend it to all my golf buddies.

Very good - very narrow. Very tough for a mid to high handicapper. Was at acorporate day so was playing off the whites which was well above my game.

Hawkshill is a great course and usually in excellent condition, greens are among the best of the area. Well placed tee shots are the key to good scoring, not just distance.
Swailend is a little hilly towards the end but still an enjoyable and testing course, although definitely easier than the Hawkshill.
Nice practice facilities and a friendly ProShop/Clubhouse.

We played Hawkshill course, it was in cracking condition. It's a woodland course with some tight holes, some long holes and testing tight fairways and water. Great course.

Two 18 hole courses with the inner being the better of the two (Hawkshill). Has plenty of challenging holes to test your game. Water comes into play on a few holes, especially the 9th and 10th holes which can be tricky.
