What The Club Says
Newmachar Golf Club is home to the Hawkshill and Swailend courses, which were both designed by Dave Thomas. The Hawkshill Course was opened for play in September 1990 and is a Championship Course. The Swailend Course was opened in June 1997. This 6,323 yard, par 72 is constructed on rolling countryside, where some 26,000 trees have been planted, giving an added character to the layout.
A trackman driving range is on site offering practice and warm up facilities with both indoor and outdoor bays, along with a short game chipping area.

Excellent condition, tight and challenging
This is a gem of a course with some tight holes and lots of interesting parts, shots over water and one of those courses you need to plan your way around. Wayward drives are penalised by trees , and bunkers are protected by some excellent sand trap positioning. Greens were pretty fast for April and ran true.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic golf club

Challenging But Scenic
Lovely course, providing various challenges for the average golfer.Very scenic, with holes over water and through trees.
Played as a visitor as part of a competition and would happily play the course again.
Great facilities and food, with very friendly and helpful staff.

Overrated
Overrated club. Swailend is a better test of golf, but is so open it becomes easy. Hawkshill is over hyped, just play safe of the tee and it's really easy. Hit driver and you risk finding trees and will struggle for par. But with some course management, it's easy. Fairways are often in poor condition. Greens are good.
