What the club says: The Donald Steel designed Mill Ride opened for play in 1990 and is often described as having the characteristics of both links and parkland styles. Set in the grounds of a 175 acre private estate, the course winds itself expertly around seven lakes and has matured beautifully over the last fifteen years. Host to many championships including events on the European Seniors Tour and the Southern Region PGA Championship, this challenging course is also a regular hang out for lots of top European Tour golfers. The par 3 11th hole is one of the finest in Berkshire; at 175 yards over water with a shallow green, it is a genuine card wrecker.

Very challenging, definitely worth playingNot an easy course but a very good test and definitely not a driver off every tee
ChallengeHave been touring a number of local courses recently which has included some prestigious neighbours. On first view the car park and pro shop appears to be in need of a little TLC, but the staff were exceptionally friendly and the feel of an old fashioned friendly members club prevailed, rather than the antiseptic corporate feel of some of Mill Rides more illustrious / better known neighbours. However, as soon as you arrive at the first tee everything changes. This is an absolute gem of of a track. The first provides a reasonably friendly start to the round from the tee and then toughens up for the 2nd / 3rd shot. This provides a pre curser for the rest of the round. Some tough, picturesque but fair holes follow, suiting players from single to high handicap. A whole array of shots are required and you will use every club in the bag! Fantastic, fair, challenging and pretty course that I will definitely play again. Watch out for the deer!! One small criticism is hat the bunkers lack a little consistency. No terribly, but enough to be noticed, but the course design more than makes up for this - a mix of parkland, water and inland links
A tough but excellent courseI do like this place, every turn is a different challenge, some of the par threes are excellent and 10 and 11 are two really good holes. Plus the finish at 17 and 18 is very tough. Greens were absolutely fabulous, course is only let down by bunkering which had various levels of sand from loads to very little.

Very ChallengingLovely course, great clubhouse. A proper golf course, with quicker greens than I am used to. Worth allowing a full day, to account for a breakfast, 18 holes, then some lunch in the clubhouse.
Society dayHaven't played here in many years and with the first rain in weeks the course has held up well with the greens running true if not fast. Still some bunkers with stones in but majority of them looked like they had good sand in them.

KevinMill Ride is a great golf course that should be doing better than it is. Played this week in the hot weather ball was running a mile not that made it any easier, this is a tough track. Great lay out, water on quite a few holes, bunkers a bit naff distinct shortage of sand. Still plays like a championship course just needs a bit of TLC.
Excellent and interesting courseDidnt play it at its best as still very waterlogged, but lots of very interesting holes, great use of water. 10 and 11 are excellent holes.

Tucked away but worth findingFriendly & fantastic course near Ascot racecourse that is generally quiet in the week.
For this winter round tee boxes and greens were excellent. Shaded fairways a but wet and muddy but this is England. Rough cut down to a decent length but unless very unluck you'd stay on the fringes of the fairway. Longish course with challenging but fair holes. Evil bunkers - my playing partner saw more sand today than Lawrence of Arabia - various tee shots required over/around water hazards too.
Fantastic course worth visitingGreat 18 holes. Would definatley recommend. Very friendly staff. Club house needs updating.

Beautiful course & fab greensGreat course, excellent greens, lot of water features and variety of dog legs... Tough course but very enjoyable,,, would highly recommend

Underrated CourseGreat course that does not get the credit it deserves. Long and testing with lots of great holes and always in good condition. Take plenty of balls because there is lots of water!
Interesting courseInteresting course which was a 'step up' from the usual 'pay & play' we normally play! Longer than normal and not short of hazards. Surprised that the fairways were a bit damp/muddy and several fairway divots were unfilled despite many notices to do so. Played in the afternoon and so worth the cheaper rate.

Great CourseGreat course on a very hot day - score let down by long lay off. Enjoyed the whole 18
