What the club says: First built around the family home in 1890, the original Harry Vardon golf course has since been sympathetically re-designed by Jack Nicklaus II to present an unforgettable course. With its cleverly sited trees and several picturesque water hazards, the course at Hanbury offers a true challenge to anyone who enjoys their golf. It is a PGA European Tour venue, has played host to many important championships, and has been a regular venue for the English Open. There can be few greater golfing rewards than a good round on the 6,678 yard championship course.

The course was very very poor .Greens were the worst I have ever played on . ?120 around joke . Bunker s were under maintenance. Very very disappointed. Not worth the money

Great Weekend Getaway
The course to me never matched the grandeur of the hotel and clubhouse but it seems like the are addressing that now and the course is beginning to look more in keeping with the expectations you conjure up as you drive in.I was particularly impressed with the greens however I did not played my best I never seems to at this venue but none the less I enjoyed my round and the company that i was with.

Excellent welcome from the pro shop team, great bar and food facilities above on the terrace at Vardons. Course set up in great condition but two very different nine?s, the front much more spaced out with a more American links feel, whilst the back 9 is more traditional parkland with lush fairways compared to the harder and faster ones on the front. Good variety in the holes with plenty to think about and many of the greens with multiple tiers. Perfect venue for two rounds one night stay, hotels facilities and food all of a really good standard, would look to visit again.

Good staycation course
There are no real standout holes but you do get two different nines front and back. Greens were in very good order medium fast good grass on the fairways and tees(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 90 Handicap: 16.4)

Beautiful course in a great condition a few days before the European Tour starting. I played here for the first time, and score 34 points. I will definitely go back and play again.

Genuinely good championship course
By anyone’s standards this is a very good course. \\Condition was excellent throughout. It’s a treat to play on perfectly flat and short tees. No bad lies on the fairway. Light rough was fair. Heavy rough defines the holes well. It had rained heavily so the greens were not as frightening as they can be but still quick and very true. \\The layout is excellent for a US style championship course. Views are great. No two holes the same. Almost all holes have individual character. Generally plenty of room off the tees without feeling too open. The difficulty in the course is the approach shots: while the greens are large they are sectioned well and often raised with drop offs so distance control with irons is key. \\Hospitality good: professional and welcoming without being snobby. \\A very good example of the type of course it is. \\Round played: sept 2019 - score: 72 handicap 3.1\\Reviewer Rating
