What The Club Says
Set in 150 tranquil acres of rolling Suffolk countryside, Hintlesham Golf Club is a very attractive parkland course widely recognised as one of the finest in the PGA's East of England Region. Designed by Martin Hawtree, the 6,602 yard layout has been wonderfully moulded into the undulating parkland of rural Suffolk. Featuring beautifully manicured fairways, superbly contoured, consistently paced all-weather greens, devious water hazards and a host of strategically placed bunkers, Hintlesham provides a most enjoyable round of golf to all levels of golfer.

Should be much better!
Had not played Hintlesham for many years, remembered it fondly as previously in good order. The course itself flows well, has some really nice holes with doglegs that make you think about dropping driver for a fairway wood off tee. Quite a few bunkers lurking that can test your accuracy. Quite a pretty course and pace of play was excellent for us on the day.The greens are frankly a mess, probably the worst I have seen in Suffolk. They are bobbly, bare in places and dessert dry. Where some appeared to have been watered, there was no aeration so just soggy on top. Putting is a lottery, ruined what should have been an enjoyable round. They greens are bordering on unplayable.
A member did mention there was significant work underway to air water and drainage and this was route cause of the current state.
Perhaps in a few months I will return and give Hintlesham another chance when the greens are repaired and playing better.. For now, I would avoid.

Very poor greens
Course ruined by hopelessly bad greens. The scenery is lovely and some very interesting holes. But the standard of the greens was unforgiveable. It doesn't feel like golf when a straight three foot putt bobbles in a number of directions before reaching the hole making putting a lottery rather than a skill.Reviewer Rating

Poor greens spoil setting.
Very attractive course set in undulating Suffolk countryside. Fairways have irrigation system so are well maintained. Tee boxes are often uneven and with numerous divots and need attention. The day was ruined by the greens though that were awful. Very uneven and bumpy with different lengths of grass and bare patches, the ball never rolled it bounced towards the hole.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course, shocking greens
Friendly staff, lovely location. Great views, gorgeous looking holes from tee boxes. Fairways in decent condition. Upon arriving, course looked superb from a distance. But greens on all holes were some of the worst we’ve ever encountered. Such a shame as it could have been a gem. Oh yes, the all day breakfast baps were fantastic!Reviewer Rating
