Autumn feels like the optimum time to be playing here. The fairways are hard & the greens receptive & the tees well kept. Plenty of fallen acorns but all the leaves had been cleared so not too much searching amongst them needed.
It’s an enjoyable course with plenty of interesting holes & the greens can be tricky but played very well to the reads. Hospitality & welcome was very good & very acceptable post round linguini. Definitely a recommend.

Never played this course before but it's a well established course, the greens were undulating and deceptively quick you had to be in the right area of the green in order to give yourself a chance and no 2 putt is guaranteed, the fairways thought was suffering from the recent hot spell.

Nice course. Plenty of space,in good condition. Some tees a bit fluffy but better than bare! Nicely laid out greens difficult to read and expect would be very fast in summer. A hidden gem

While most of the greens were in good condition, most of the aprons were poor and the fairways and rough was very muddy...the level that collects on your shoes to create mud sky pads. In fairness it was the 30th of Dec, perhaps in spring/summer it's fine....but they should not charge £50 for these conditions.

Players there were friendly and respectful....it's more of a members club with lockers and code to the changing room. Was clean and warm in the mens locker room/gents.

In terms of the course, I expected a lot more for 4 on golfshake. I found most of the holes pretty boring, lacking interesting or distinctive features and it wasn't very scenic. A sincere lack of trees or leaf growth, so can see the housing and cemetery adjacent- felt very close. Didn't feel like you were in the countryside at all despite other comments...again perhaps different in summer but really only 1 line of trees between the course and houses in many places.

On the plus side, some long par 4s which is a good test to get home in two and some longer par 5s for the average player...managed at par on the 18th 432 yard par 4 which was 2 good hits. Got round in 80 (+10) which is slightly better than my 12 handicap.

Great summer golf

Played early July. Course dry. Greens fast. Forgiving of the tee. Difficult approaches due to bouncy conditions.

Course in fantastic condition. Harry Colt design makes for a great test. Really like the approach areas and fringes round the greens. Greens pure and fast. Great balcony for drink and food afterwards.

Hendon GC.A gem of a course.

Played the course for the first time in a Seniors Open today. What a fantastic course Hendon is. From the moment I drove through the gated entrance to an imposing, what looks like a 1970's style clubhouse, I was looking forward to the day. The welcome from everyone I met on the day from club members to all the staff was excellent and I could not fault the hospitality received. The course itself was in spectacular condition, Teeboxes, fairways, semi-rough and fringes around the greens were expertly maintained by the greenkeeping staff and the greens themselves were superb, with plenty of slopes and subtle breaks and that were very quick indeed. There are a lot of very good challenging holes at Hendon and it would be wrong of me to choose my favourites, as there are quite a few. I highly recommend a visit to play the course, as you won't be disappointed. Facilities include a mid-size putting green, that tells you a lot about the pace of the greens on the course, a couple of driving nets, buggies and electric trolleys if required. A good well stocked pro-shop and a nice large bar and balcony area, with great views of the 9th and 18th holes. A special mention to the following people that made me feel very welcome on the day, as if I was a fully fledged paid up member. To Matt (the club pro), Charlotte, Alessia, Debi, Chloe and Fahim who were running around in the bar and dining area ensuring people were well looked after, to the kitchen staff, Finlay, Ben and Mo, who served up a delightful 2 -course carvery after the golf and finally to Gabriela who managed the whole day superbly well and to who, nothing was too much trouble. In summary, a fantastic golf course, with excellent off-course hospitality. I will definitely be returning to play the Seniors Open competition next year.

Great course and friendly welcome

Lovely course given the dry conditions. Some of the greens a bit patchy although understandable given the lack of rain
