What the club says: Fairfield is parkland course that’s set around a reservoir, so it enjoys quite a unique location compared to the other courses in the area. A great course for all levels of player, it demands accuracy as opposed to length off most of the tees and you’ll be required to hit the middle of the fairway on a number of holes if you want a shot at the green.
This is a testing and very enjoyable Par 70, 18 hole course of 6058 yards, with a standard scratch of 69.

Fantastic course for all levels
Fairfield is a fantastic course hidden away just outside the heart of Manchester. When we played, the course condition was fantastic, greens pure and rolling true. It’s just over 6000 yards from the back tee, but don’t let it fool you, it’s still a great challenge. What I liked was that it’s as you see it on most holes, very few blind shots which is great for playing it the first time round. The greens are a great mix of subtle breaks and big slopes and they are quite small making them tough to hit. The front nine gets you nicely warmed up without too much trouble in play for for the first 4 holes. After that, out of bounds is in play for 13 of the next 14 holes. Keep the ball in play and you will do alright! Always nice to play a course that isn’t just driver off every tee. You have to plot your way around. A great mix of par 3s, risk and reward par 4s and some fabulous holes. From 14 to 18 is a phenomenal test. The club was very warm and welcoming and the bar was full of atmosphere when we got in, plus they had Madri on draft! Food was well priced and portions we good.
All in all a fantastic day out. Will 100% be back again before the summer is out.

Great game
The course was in good condition considering the lack of rain lately. Green were very hard to stop a shot on unless it was a full shot. Few marks on the greens, but overall very good.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 81 Handicap: 16.4)

I have played this course as a visitor over the last 6/7 years as an invited guest and this year the course really impressed me. The new clubhouse forced changes to the layout of the course but this has made for a fantastic finish, the 17th & 18th holes make for a fantastic ‘potential card wreckinng’ holes, a real challenge that you will remember the most. The course is in great condition and has matured well. The new clubhouse and food in there were spot on. Thoroughly recommended.

Nice price to play, but.......
Decided to give this course a go on their "Happy Monday" deal and I was more than happy to pay a tenner on what looked like a decent track on paper. Friendly welcome in the pro shop, large practice putting green outside the modern looking clubhouse. Stood on the 1st tee looking towards the 1st green all looked good, however I soon found out how disjointed this course felt and became. Looks like they have had to do a little redesigning due to the adjacent housing development and not all of it has paid off in my opinion. There are some decent holes like the par 3 10th over water and the par 5 finishing hole towards the clubhouse, but there are also some annoying holes like the par 5 9th with little room for error and the par for 11th which is very patchy at best. One good feature are the greens which were quite true and a good speed when I played. Also there seems to be a very relaxed dress code as a few people were playing in football shorts and cargo shorts with shirts hanging out which gave it a look of a municipal type course, shame. Glad I tried it for a tenner but wont be rushing back.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 73 Handicap: 5.3)

Really enjoyed the course today. Very friendly /helpful on arrival..no problems getting away before actual t-time....still a little wet on parts of the fairways..which was to be expected. .but considering that..it wasn't extreme. .greens in excellent condition ..and will be like slate once it warms up..enjoyable front 9..holes 10,11,12 ok..but from 13 onwards you will not find a better 6 holes to finish any round ..must play in my opinionReviewer Rating

Tricky course
The conditions weren't great after lots of heavy rain recently. Even so the course was in good condition. Fairways mats were needed, but I'd forgotten mine, so played from the semi rough. All but two greens were open, one of the temps being an easy par 3. Given the weather and it being late in the season, I'd definitely return to play in better conditions. My only gripe and it's a small one, is because of the recent rains the greens were unable to have been cut, making the greens slow. But its fully understandable due to lots and lots of water falling in Manchester. Who would have guessed.
See someone with a tan in Manchester, it isn't a tan, its rust...

We came on a society day and if I had my
way we would play it all the time.
It's the best value for money course I have ever played. It puts some courses who charge double Fairfields fees to shame.
I can't praise it enough. You DEFINITELY need to play this course. Plenty of different type holes. It's great.

Shocking course, most par 4s are drivable and the greens are in a terrible state,it rained in the morning but was clear in the afternoon and the course was still waterlogged, only plus is the people are very friendly so if you want to play golf don't bother coming but if you don't mind someone down your ear for an hour talking about the old course then this is for you.Reviewer Rating
