Not a bad course
Played here twice now - enjoyable course with some testing holes with water hazards aplenty. Friendly welcome and as part of a society we were well looked after, breakfast was great.

Worth a visit

good condition well worth a visit
after a period of heavy rain course was wet in patches but nothing to spoil a round. Course very verdant and in superb condition, greens excellent, wet in patches but not sufficient to prevent (tricky) putting. Really enjoyed the day.(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 91 Handicap: 29)

Houldsworth GC. A lovely course in an area that defies having a course
Working away, so threw the clubs in the car, just in case. With Storm Ciara having just passed through the north west and the amount of rain over the past couple of months, any course would struggle and have difficulty in allowing a half decent round to be played. Houldsworth though wasn't in too bad a condition. Yes, the course was waterlogged in places, as you'd expect. Yes, you'd expect some mats and temporary tees, but surprisingly, no temporary greens. A warm welcome in the pro-shop from the resident pro, who said to go to the 4th and start your round, as there was a 4-ball just teeing off and a couple of 3-balls ahead of them and the rest of the course was quiet. Well thank you for the advice. There was not another golfer or golfers on the course ahead of me. Fantastic. Loved the walk. Loved the layout and loved the variety of holes. Some undulating fairways, making second or third shots a challenge and plenty of water hazards to make you think. My favourite holes have to be the 13th,14th and 15th. The 13th a sweeping dogleg par 5, with a stream running all down the right and tree-lined on the left. The approach to the green is challenging, as there is a lake short and to the left, and behind the green, with part of the green tucked behind the approach lake. I played the hole into the wind and hit driver,3-wood,3-wood and was still 100 yards from the green. Tough. The 14th is a par 3 over the lake behind the 13th green, into the wind a real tough ask, and great looking hole from the tee. The 15th is a great hole, 90 degree dogleg to the left, with wasteland and a tree forcing you play to the corner of the dogleg, where there is a very large and deep bunker. Big hitters could be tempted to cut the corner, but there are bunkers all round the green, so be aware. A very nice course, in a small suburban area in Stockport, that is really worth a visit. Not a long course, but enough in it to make it enjoyable. Clubhouse was nice and food was good. Practice facilities could do with some investment, but all-in-all, I'll be returning to play in the summer, work permitting. Better, clearer, brighter course signage from the main road would help, as I drove past it.

very nice
well maintained course which even after all the rain was good. Greens in good condition but very hard to read(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 91 Handicap: 16.6)

Society Day
Visited for the first time as part of a golf society. ?28 for a full English & a round was good value. Excellent service and hospitality. Course was overall in good condition although the greens were still being worked on so weren?t the best. Some nice holes involving water features, quite a few hidden ditches too.

Great Course
Really enjoy this course, we have played it many times now and we always enjoy our visit.(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 92 Handicap: 18.9)

Amazing course.

First visit
Staff in the shop and bar made you welcom.Unfortunately the members made you feel unwelcome to the point of
Being rude as if to say you don't belong here. It's a good course green's were good

Average course
Average course, very wet and poor greens. Clubhouse really good and food excellent.

Good course - poor weather
Not much we can complain about bearing mind the weather we've had?

Very friendly
The course was wet but in good condition it was a good test of golf and the members we met were very friendly(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: 15.2)

Hidden gem of Stockport.
Very well laid out course challenging pretty good conditions. Considering the amount of rain lately.

Visited today.
We have had a lot of rain and this took it's toll on the course, we found it playing really long, no run on the ball, every shot plugged, the ground was really water logged. Shots were hard to play due to the ground being so soaked.(Round played: Nov 2017 - Score: 101 Handicap: 15.4)
