What the club says: The Club is a James Braid designed golf course in a central location near Tamworth. Drayton Park Golf Club is popular with casual visitors and golf societies alike. The tree-lined course is an extremely good test of golf but is easy walking, with short distances from green to tee so that 27 or 36 holes is easily achievable without tiring.

Mac
After 7 weeks of course closure due to the corona virus lockdown, it was a wonderful experience to play on fairways and greens that had been nurtured and cared for by 2 members of the greenkeeping team. Really top class course in a beautiful setting tucked away in this corner of Staffordshire.

Greens decent, locker rooms need upgrade.

Good course
Played well in horrible wet conditions. Drayton is a good course, and local which helps. Would definitely play again.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 91 Handicap: 15.7)

Lovely Course
Really enjoyed the round. Definitely recommend it.

Lovely course
Superb greens, tees and surrounds. I played this course back in October and the presentation is far superior to previous years. Fairways are still needing some rain yet so are most places. I shall be returning as it is a very good test of golf and not a hit where you like course.

Tired, needs a lot of work...fairways have very little grass...greens slow (maybe as pre-season)

Lovely flat venue with friendly rough , nice to have look for your balls always in view lol(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 102 Handicap: 25)

The course/afternoon was great, but marred by a member who told us that "we were holding the course up by 'struggling/practicing round the course" and requested to play through (we were waiting at the next tee for them to play through). We all play golf regualry and all hold handicaps from 18-20; we were playing within the rules in terms of playing speed. For some it ruined what was a pleasant afternoon out. For the record - other members we spoke to were pleasant.
Based on this - I wouldn't return and would opt to play Aston Wood or Lichfield GC, played at both this a number of times and have never experienced 'commentary' from members.

Drayton Park- Great Course
Course is in really good condition. A lot of work has been done to reduce the number of low branches on trees and also thinning out the rough. This has made the course a lot more playable whilst still being very challenging.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 92 Handicap: 20.4)

Worth a visit
I played in an Open and my golf was rubbish.Set alongside Drayton Manor Park and Zoo in Staffordshire, you'll find a gated car park which in turn takes you to the clubhouse. I visited the Pro shop and was warmly greeted and directed to the bar and locker room. The course is set up as two loops of nine both finishing at the clubhouse
A decent sized putting green along side the halfway house with a couple of practice nets.
The course didn't have a wow factor, but it was in good condition and the greens ran true. Not overly long but the emphasis should be on staying on the fairways as wayward shots do get punished. A relatively flat course makes for an easy walk and the tees were quite close from the preceding green.
Back at the 19th there is an option for waiter/waitress service for drinks on the patio as spikes are not permitted in the bar area.

Course: March 2017 - in very good condition, greens OK a little short for condition but putted well. Layout didn't wow me, and my visit after 29yrs ago was disappointing.
£25 for 18 holes with chips, sandwiches after still a bargain.
