What the club says: The Club is a James Braid designed golf course in a central location near Tamworth. Drayton Park Golf Club is popular with casual visitors and golf societies alike. Friendly club
First time visitor. Welcomed in the bar and Proshop and enjoyed a well laid out course. The greens were superb. I have played harder courses with lower slope ratings. I can imagine it being harder when the leaves fall off the trees. I had trouble finding my ball on the fairway couple of times.Reviewer Rating

Great course a must play
This course has the best greens throughout the whole year . This is mostly down to dale and his green keeping team , always out there making improvements. fairways and course are in amazing condition even with the amount of rain we have had this year . We have dan and his team also doing an amazing job with a great stock of golf wear & clubs .If you are in the area it’s a must play .

Great course
Played there this week and after a terrible winter I must say that the course is in super condition. My course (located with 20mins of this place) has been shut most of the winter and we still are way off the conditioning of Drayton. We even saw buggies out there which is incredible really after Decembers rain.Changing rooms was closed and temporary toilets had to be used due to refurb. Only 2 on offer but were clean.
Greens were simply stunning and really firm. Fairways, approaches and tees were well looked after. 3 mats had to be used and a carry only policy in force for holes 13 thru 18. Bunkers were smartly raked and nice to play out of.
Plenty of ropes to navigate around but in protection of the course it makes sense and certainly pays dividends.
We will be back and have to say, I would join if I lived closer.
Good pint of Guinness too

Quality course
You’ll struggle to find better greens all year round than here. Course improving year on year. Greens, teeing areas and Aprons are top notch. Fairways have improved dramatically since I played last year. Still a few issues to eradicate off the beaten track yet super value for money.Pro Shop has a decent stock and are nice chaps. The bar and patio has all been refurbished and look great.
The changing facilities are a little tired but didn’t spoil our fun.

Fairways are shocking
Just read the comments below (obviously from a loyal member) saying "don't listen to the reviews the fairways are fine". As someone who has just left because of the condition of the course I can categorically say that are not fine. This course has a long standing issue with the fairways and they are absolutely shocking. Even spring/summer I was placing on the fairways to ensure I had a decent surface to play off.The bunkers are even worse. Full, and I mean full of stones with hardly any sand. This club are in serious denial and hold a very inflated opinion of themselves and their club.
I have to give credit to the greens, aprons and tees. They are immaculate.
The pro shop staff are also very welcoming and helpful too. Bit that's about it.
No booking system, no spike bar, antiquated rules, slow play and a boring up and down every hole course will await you

After 7 weeks of course closure due to the corona virus lockdown, it was a wonderful experience to play on fairways and greens that had been nurtured and cared for by 2 members of the greenkeeping team. Really top class course in a beautiful setting tucked away in this corner of Staffordshire.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course
Superb greens, tees and surrounds. I played this course back in October and the presentation is far superior to previous years. Fairways are still needing some rain yet so are most places. I shall be returning as it is a very good test of golf and not a hit where you like course.Reviewer Rating

The course/afternoon was great, but marred by a member who told us that "we were holding the course up by 'struggling/practicing round the course" and requested to play through (we were waiting at the next tee for them to play through). We all play golf regualry and all hold handicaps from 18-20; we were playing within the rules in terms of playing speed. For some it ruined what was a pleasant afternoon out. For the record - other members we spoke to were pleasant.
Based on this - I wouldn't return and would opt to play Aston Wood or Lichfield GC, played at both this a number of times and have never experienced 'commentary' from members.

Drayton Park- Great Course
Course is in really good condition. A lot of work has been done to reduce the number of low branches on trees and also thinning out the rough. This has made the course a lot more playable whilst still being very challenging.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 92 Handicap: 20.4)

Worth a visit
I played in an Open and my golf was rubbish.Set alongside Drayton Manor Park and Zoo in Staffordshire, you'll find a gated car park which in turn takes you to the clubhouse. I visited the Pro shop and was warmly greeted and directed to the bar and locker room. The course is set up as two loops of nine both finishing at the clubhouse
A decent sized putting green along side the halfway house with a couple of practice nets.
The course didn't have a wow factor, but it was in good condition and the greens ran true. Not overly long but the emphasis should be on staying on the fairways as wayward shots do get punished. A relatively flat course makes for an easy walk and the tees were quite close from the preceding green.
Back at the 19th there is an option for waiter/waitress service for drinks on the patio as spikes are not permitted in the bar area.

Course: March 2017 - in very good condition, greens OK a little short for condition but putted well. Layout didn't wow me, and my visit after 29yrs ago was disappointing.
£25 for 18 holes with chips, sandwiches after still a bargain.
