What the club says: A 6,275 yard, par 71 USGA rated course which beautifully contours around the estate. Magnificent parkland fairways dotted with trees and strategically placed bunkers, plus a 22 bay floodlit driving range. This is golf at its best.

Dunton as autumn comes
I have played this course many times, feel at home here, just like my club in Essex, I am able to try out different techniques without holding anybody up, I will break 90 round here one day, ha ha ,the course was in very good condition, green keepers do a remarkable job considering how well played it is, all in the pro shop are brilliant, James, Jack, Emma and Charlie to mention a few,Reviewer Rating

Challenging, quirky and a little frustrating
There\'s so much about this course that could be better and make this a very good track. Obviously used heavily by societies (which is why we were there). From the starter with a warm welcome and a very quirky first hole that catches out a lot of players, all the way round you are constantly trying to battle with accuracy over length. \\Some of the holes require pinpoint accuracy otherwise you risk running into trouble - which is usually the point of golf. That said, there were too many odd bounces which ended up with you being either blocked by low hanging branches or literally faced with a line of trees. Some of the bunker placements were harsh in the extreme because invariably they left very little space to aim at. After playing the course three times, I still didn\'t feel the correct line was the right line to play.\\The \'field\' holes as I will call them 10 and 11, were the biggest flaw. They not only do not fit in with the style of the rest of the course, they literally are located a considerable distance from the rest of the holes - its almost as if they forgot it needed to be 18 in total and added them on as an afterthought having mis counted.\\The greens on the day on the whole we played them were dead slow. I\'ll cut some slack here as we\'ve had a lot of rain in the last few weeks after a dry summer which plays havoc with growth patterns. It did mean some holes appeared much faster than others.\\The tees were actually not bad given the dry summer, and actually after a bit of a trim will look very good. Fairways were a little spongy in places (again no doubt due to recent rain) but more than playable and despite the uneven bounces were in good condition.\\Bunkers were reasonable, adequate sand and playable so can\'t fault those at all.\\Holes to look out for: \Hole 1 (Very quirky right angled par 4), Hole 14 (short par 3 into a bowl), Hole 16 (downhill par 4 with an approach carry over water) and the 18th (par 3 over a pond) were the stand out holes for me in different ways.\\The point of us going there was to play golf and I was rather underwhelmed at what could be a very good test. If you asked most golfers coming off, they\'d feel they played better than they scored! After three rounds x 14 players all saying the same thing, it feels that there is more than a little truth to this!\\The facilities were very good. Bunkers bar is an excellent place to chill before or after a round, with comfortable and plenty of seating. The catering team there and within the hotel itself were very hospitable and have to praise them strongly for the welcome along with the starter who was full of lots of tips about how to approach the course!\\Overall, would I go back there to play golf - Probably not which is a shame. The hotel and staff themselves though were a credit to the setup\\Reviewer Rating

Snails pace golf
My wife and I love playing this extremely well maintained golf course, so much so I will be joining next month on the Fairways membership. Unfortunately on Sunday afternoon the pace of play was horrendous, over 5 hrs for 18 holes, what is it that make 4 balls in golf buggies so slow, they have no golf etiquette what so ever,it's not hard to 1 respect the course and 2 respect fellow golfers, Please people read some etiquette rules and make everyone's game a lot more enjoyable. But still love playing here.

Tight
Dunston Hall in mid August was dry, bordering on very dry for much of the course (greens excepted). It is very much a course rewarding being straight rather than length off the tee. So lots of short par 4s with water hazards placed so that the risk and reward shot was never an option (eg 1, 3, 11, 12, 16). Earth has been moved to create the course, with a number of holes having banks which forced the ball towards the fairway (and so made narrow fairways a bit wider). Not the most elegant of layouts, esp the walks from the 8th green to the 9th tee and then 9th green to 10th tee and worst of all, 11th green to 12th tee).Reviewer Rating

Outstanding course and facilities
My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying at Dunston Hall and playing the golf course. With in the last year they have updated the large and extremely well maintained driving range with the Trackmaster system, can't fault it at all, other practise facilities include a large putting green, similar o peed of the course greens, chipping area and green and well maintained bunker around the practice green. The golf shop is well stocked with good quality clothing etc, the staff are always polite and helpful and very knowledgeable on the products which they sell. If I lived closer to the area this is the club that my wife and I would become members, but an Essex to Norfolk commute to play golf is not really practicable.
Golf course is very well laid out, not an easy course but very enjoyable to play.

Lovely course and very tight. We played two rounds in two days and whilst not complaining about the course the slow play spoils it. I don’t know if we were particularly unlucky but both rounds took over 5.5 hours.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course. Narrow and lots of trees but reasonably flat and well k
Very pretty course and in great condition for the last weekend in November. Pace of play was good with 10 min tee off intervals. All greens were excellent.End of course shoe and trolley compressed air cleaner out of order for the whole weekend. Not ideal late November with all the mud. Need to get this sorted asap and also provide a stiff broom to clean off equipment and shoes in these winter conditions before going to the bar or loading up the car.
Well done to all the green keepers. Great job ????. We will be back.

Never disappoints
We have been to Dunston Hall as a society a few times and it never disappoints. This year was our 20th anniversary for our society so we went back to the place that suits our needs the best. The course it challenging enough without being too difficult for the higher handicaps. Considering the poor weather this year the course was in tip top conditions. The greens were true and at a decent pace but the bunkers were inconsistent where sand is concerned. The Bunkers Bar behind the 1st tee is a great time to spend time before and after your golf. Food is available but the kitchen is shut by 15:00 so you need an early tee time for a meal afterwards. It is the perfect place for societies to spend their time away from the hotel guests that might not be amused by noise and banter.Reviewer Rating

Very Poor Condition
Played on 30th September and I was underwhelmed by its condition...Tee boxes were full of holes and sand where the markers were - must have been there for weeks.
Greens were hollow tined and smothered in sand.
Fairways were ok in places but it was obvious that the course is overplayed and under cared for.
I would draw a white line around it and declare the whole place as GUR....
