What The Club Says

This course, designed by the internationally renowned Donald Steel is set along the River Crane. It features the contours and lakes of the rolling countryside and is named after the majestic river, which comes into play on many of the holes. The course was opened for play in 1992 and the tricky parkland layout is less than a 30-minute drive from the centre of Bournemouth encompassing wonderful features of the surrounding Dorset countryside.

The fairways were Very very wet when we played. Some areas were like a bog. This was a shame as the greens were in great condition. Tee boxes were fine and not much water in any of the bunkers. Needs as many courses do a month of dry weather

Slow play!!

The slowest round over ever had to play, this course in the last year has started putting tee times closer and closer to squeeze more in and make more money, on Sunday we had 12 people on one hole lol it’s a joke a and greens are awful

A Challenging, well kept course.
Lovely location and a pleasant environment to play.
Not too busy when we played.

Lovely course, BUT?.

Played here again on Sunday 20 July.
It's a lovely course but from 2nd tee onwards (we started at our allotted time) we had to wait. Took us 4.5 hours to play 18 holes.
There was no apparent course management in relation to slow play.

Good Summertime Course

Coming out of a wet winter the course is now showing some conditioning
Greens played quick, tees where all starting to grow and fill in as the fairways are. Couple of tees are being repaired and looking good. Food is always very good and the staff helpful and friendly.

Disappointing

Played the 9 hole Woodland course and was very disappointed. There was no map of the course available so we had to assume where the green was on the longer holes. A number of the tees had artificial grass with no real option to play from real grass. The fairways were not close mown so swallowed balls and if you missed a fairway it was awfully long! The greens were in a poor condition with a lot of sand in bald patches. If the course had been maintained better it would have been very enjoyable, but we won't be going back.

Wide open course, enjoyable

Recent annual maintenance on greens so not a good time to give an assessment. Otherwise well maintained, although semi-rough a bit thick in places. I should imagine they would shortly cut fairways shorter soon (but their green maintenance and spurt in grass growing means they could do with another cut). But good course.

Summer is near and like most courses this is the best time to play Crane Valley. Currently in very good condition with the greens starting to speed up. A good challenge for all handicaps
