What The Club Says

The course is laid out in two loops covering some 190 acres with no two holes running in the same direction. The only exception being the 12th and 13th which run along the sea. It speaks highly for Simpson's design that he saw need to introduce only fifty bunkers in the course's defences the rest was taken care of by the natural terrain. The 14th hole is regarded as the signature hole a short par four measuring only 332 yards you can drive all the way to the green and end up taking six or more, wondering what did you actually do that was wrong. The four par threes are superb. Averaging 160 yards it is seldom one will have a good score that does not include a par at each of these.

Superb Golf Course

Great golf course, one of the best on the East Coast of Ireland. The greens had been hollow tinned when I played it but the rest of the course was really good. They have recently done some super work on the course including adding in grass paths and up-grading the runoffs on a number of greens

Course is extremely fun to play. The back 9 is really outstanding. Each hole changes dramatically from 100 yards and in, it is almost like playing two different holes. Greens were fast and true and in great shape. I would not pay full price, just on principle, so go find deals on the internet.

A true links course. We played off the white tees on a calm day - would not want to play it on a windy day. The course was in fantastic condition for the time of year (March), the only downside being 3 temporary greens and having to use fairway mats. But this didn't really cause much of a problem just drop to the side of the fairway, and the temporary greens were better than the greens on most other courses this time of year. Some very long holes especially into the wind, which made some of the par 4s into 3 good shots to reach. Overall a must play if you are nearby.
