Great course in really good condition. Played in a 3 ball and we all enjoyed the course. Heavy rain towards the end of the round, but it didn't effect the course. The members were really friendly and we had a good chat with some after the round.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course
Collingtree has changed over the last few years, creating some new holes after selling land for housing. The new layout is interesting. The only thing that let's it down is the wooden tee boxes in place all year round. Could be made into an excellent layout if these were made into proper tees. The greens were in top condition. Would like to play it again.Reviewer Rating

Midlands Top 10?
Got a nod from a friend to go and play this course as he’d played recently on a whim and said it was “sensational”. I’d heard of Collingtree and heard it had held the British Masters but had also heard it had fallen from grace. On my friends advice, I had a free afternoon so I thought ‘why not’. Wow, I was not expecting that at all! \\I’ve played Woodall Spa, Sherwood Forest, Hollinwell, Luffenham Heath and Little Aston many times and even been lucky enough to play the JCB and have all those as my favourite midlands courses … but Collingtree Park has just been added to that small elite list.\\What a track, what a layout. It was an absolute delight. I think I can see though why this course is not lighting up the top 10 list in the midlands due to a couple of ropey bunkers and 2 x temporary tee boxes. The temp tee box on the 17th makes perfect sense and doesn’t diminish from the smashing little 120yd par 3 but the temp tee box on the 10th had to be explained to me by a member in the clubhouse. It was due to a property building an all glass garden house … along the side of the golf course! And apparently the council have ruled in favour of the occupier even though the course pre dates the houses by many years! Ah, the world we live in.\\Anyway, back to the course. It was superb. The pro shop said I could play off the white tees if I wished when I enquired and they wished me luck … now I see why. What a test. The whole course was manicured beautifully. Every bunker had been raked and as for the greens … wow they were quick but very true, almost Liphook standards. The rough was good enough to challenge, but not bad enough to punish.\No 2 holes visually are the same, not even close to one another which cannot be said at some of the much more esteemed courses I previously mentioned, but not here. The 3rd, 9th and 18th holes are things of beauty but that finishing 18th, if that 18th was at Sawgrass, we’d talk more about that than we would the 17th! It’s a wonderful finishing hole.\\Friendly members chatted away on the 19th hole outside decking with a beer stopping only to applaud the good shots onto the stunning 18th island green. And if you went in the water, they let you know what they thought about that shot as well! Ha Ha.\\£35!!! I’d happily pay £100 to play this course again. Back in a few weeks time taking some friends with me. I can’t keep this place to myself. Collingtree members, you don’t know how lucky you are!!!Reviewer Rating

Wow. Just beautiful. Never been here before but had heard about it.So much water, no two holes the same, the greens are fantastic, the layout is just wonderful. Looks like 3 or 4 bunkers either need repairing or filling in and 1 tee box needs sorting out. The 10th I think.
I would’ve given it a 10/10 if they had been done and I’ve only given out 2 this year in 37 courses!
I have been fortunate to have played some very special courses over the years, many in the UK top 100, and Collingtree could very quickly, with just a little work, join the simply superb bracket.
How on earth does this not register on an England top 100 course list? I can only think because of those ropey 3 or 4 bunkers because the rest of it is a delight.
If the 3rd, 9th and 18th were on a UK top 10 course, we would be constantly talking about them.
Will definitely be back. The sooner the better.

Best in the County
It always amazes me to see just how many, what I would call, mediocre courses always seem to rank above CPGC. Why? Seriously why?It is a fantastic layout with some truly stunning holes. Ask any golfer for the best layout in Northamptonshire and this course wins hands down.
And as for the greens … they are rapid!!!
I see Sherwood Forest at no1 for the East Mids and having played both courses regularly they sit alongside each other for me. Yet you won’t see CP within the top 100 East Mids courses!!! Ha ha!!! Crazy!!!
I love Sherwoods tree lined layout but with all the water at CP, it’s a very different, yet just as challenging knock but intertwining a housing estate with some beautiful properties makes it very easy on the eye.
This course is without a shadow of a doubt a top 10 in the East Mids. If you’ve played it recently … you’d know this. The East Mids list needs adjusting to recognise this asap. ????????????????????

Re-vamped course layout
Well done guys! The efforts you have put in to the course development and maintenance are really showing. The course is in great condition, the greens are immaculate and the changes you have made since losing the 2nd/3rd holes work really well. I especially like the new 17th and the longer 18th.Reviewer Rating

20/12/21 Winter Warmer
Have just played the course as a society of 29 in the middle of winter and have never played greens like that on any course in winter. They were lightning quick. Many a course in July would kill for those greens. Just stunning and the topic of conversation in the bar afterwards! The greens staff had ironed them for our comp. How fantastic is that?
There is so much work in progress that means there’s a bit of a walk to the current brand new 1st (soon to be the 2nd) but it gives you a chance to survey the even newer (not yet open) first that’s due to open imminently in early 2022. That looks like it’s going to be a superb opening hole.
The tees were moved forward quite a distance for winter but it was still an absolute joy out there helped by being a pleasant winter day with not a breath of wind. It was a little soft underfoot in places, as you’d expect, but that was no issue as it is December.
It didn’t go unnoticed by the players also that every single bunker had been freshly raked so god knows what time the greenskeepers must have been in at.
Overall, just a joy to play. I now, at the insistence of a salivating society, have to put together another meet to get us back in the summer. I don’t know if I can’t wait for it or whether I should be in fear if the greens are like that in winter then god only knows what they will be like in summer!!!
Superb CPGC and also great VFM. ????

On The Up
Played again after playing it back in June. Even after the heavy rain of the last week the course was looking great. Fairways a tiny bit long but with the weather I can see why, all were super lush and made hitting irons from the fairway superb but not much run. Its the fairways you must play from to score well. Greens looking great, only a couple of pitch marks, so being looked after by members and visitors which is nice to see. The layout is really nice and isn't difficult from the daily tee's but you do need to be accurate with both tee shots and your iron play. A lot of nice holes with the lakes and houses as a back drop, and the other holes tend to be shortish so a good drive and a short iron in to the large greens. Well worth a look. Its only getting better and better.Reviewer Rating

There are changes coming to Collingtree with hope that ownership will switch to the members. This will hopefully see continued improvement in the course and facilities. The course is a great layout and the 18th always a challenging par 5 to an island green.Reviewer Rating

Getting better
Played the other day after not playing here for a couple of years. What a huge improvement now it’s been taken over by the members. It’s not perfect by any means, some of the tee boxes are a bit bear and the greens aren’t perfect, I was told they are only 60% of where they want them but a huge improvement. They ran fast and true with lots of breaks and some of the greens are huge so you could be on the green but still 60ft away!! Fairways are not bad but getting better. All the lakes look great. Layout is also fabulous, just watch out for out of bounds with all the houses!! And the 18th island green is great. Staff are super helpful and everyone I met was lovely. Highly likely to join. Overall it’s heading in the right direction which is great. You can almost feel the spirt of Seve and co as you go play the course.Reviewer Rating
