Well worth a visit
I've always enjoyed playing here, as I consider the course has more 'memorable' holes than perhaps any other course I've played.Greens this year were like last year - a little slower than I expected, but were still quick and very true, and there are also some fairly severe slopes to try and get your head round.
Fairways were well cut.
Bunkers seemed to be well maintained, and the ones I visited had plenty of sand.
We played as a team of 4 with incredible value at ?88 for all of us in their Senior Open which, as from this year has been made into a Senior Mens Open. This is great value at 88 for 4 players (22 each). Normal cost is 45 a round, or 25 with a County Card, unless these have increased since 2022.
It's not a particularly long course, and despite having a number of GPS devices between us, AND a yardage book; a lot of shots were short or long because we didn't get the distances right, or judge the bounce correctly.
We didn't eat, other than snacks at the half-way house, and the included bacon rolls as part of the cost of the open, so I cannot really comment on food cost, but one of our group did study the menu, and was pleasantly surprised at the food cost.
We have all expressed a wish to return to play again.

Interesting and hilly
A very scenic interesting and hilly venue. Very picturesque holes and great views. Tough holes, a lot of water to get over, very well protected greens. Course was in great condition, hospitality was exceptional as was the food and drink. Slightly on the pricier side but worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

Great course, well worth a visit
I've always enjoyed playing here, as I consider the course has more 'memorable' holes than perhaps any other course I've played.Greens this year were a little slower than I expected, but were still quick and very true, and there are also some fairly severe slopes to try and get your head round.
Fairways were not cut as low as I've seen previously here.
Bunkers seemed to be well maintained, but I only visited 2, and there was some concern amongst our party that there was minimal sand in them i.e. dig too deep and you hit clay.
We played as a team of 4 with incredible value at ?88 for all of us in their Senior Open which can be any combination of men or women over 50 (I think ? it might be over 55). Normal cost is ?45 a round, or ?25 with a County Card. It's not a particularly long course, and despite having a number of GPS devices between us, AND a yardage book; a lot of shots were short or long because we didn't get the distances right, or judge the bounce correctly.
We didn't eat, other than snacks at the half-way house, and the included bacon rolls as part of the cost of the open, so I cannot really comment on food cost, but I would guess it is reasonable, as I know it is popular with other golfers.
We have all expressed a wish to return to play again.
