What the club says: Cobh Golf Club is situated 1 mile on the Eastern side of the picturesque town of Cobh in Cork Harbour. The club can trace its humble beginnings to a small group of determined members of Cobh Golfing Society who for many years travelled afar to pursue their beloved sport and relished the thoughts of establishing a home course.
In 1985 an agreement was reached with a landowner to lease sufficient land to create a 9 hole lay-out. Following much lobbying and with the backing of a public meeting in early January 1986 the dream soon became reality and work commenced in the Spring of that year.

The newly formed committee secured the services of course architect Eddie Hackett whose assistance proved invaluable in creating a 9 hole layout on what was then a relatively small site.

Much hard work and fund raising followed until the course opened with its inaugural competition held on 28th June 1987. Initially an old cottage served as the clubhouse until increased membership led to the club purchasing additional land and lengthening the 9-hole layout. As the fledgling club developed so too did the need for improved facilities and this eventually led to the development of the a new clubhouse opening in 1996.
