Castlemartyr GC- terrible price, worse grass!

Was charged €40 for 9 holes today- advertised as a links experience. The grass on the tee boxes and fairways was terrible: not well kept and full of weeds. Fairway bunkers full of rocks- too big to be classed as stones! Ridiculous price for a terrible quality course.

A wet day in Castlemartyr

This was a wet day in Castlemartyr with some fairways, much rough and many walkways wet underfoot but quiet a few fairways bone dry (obviously reflecting heavy investment in drainage on some holes). This is a lovely course and I’d like to play in the dry weather. Good dry fast greens. A big investment on the whole complex on day 1, I imagine and I will be back.

overall ok, it's an inland links style course but if you travel to ireland to play links golf better to go to the coast and play a real links course. The practice facilities are a bit limited with only nets and a putting green. The guys in the proshop were friendly. We played on a saturday morning when there seemed to be plenty of locals who all moved along at a good pace, so we got round in 3.5 hours

The course and facilities are excellent but unfortunately a manager was a bit irate towards the kitchen staff which the whole bar area could over hear. This guy needs a good talking to himself. Not very professional at all.
