What The Club Says
We play on the Chingford Golf Course. It is the oldest course in Essex, dating back to 1886 and believed to be designed by James Braid. The original layout was different. It once spread all the way to the Epping New Road and some of the old teeing areas can be found behind the Warren Wood Pub.
This is a public course, situated on common land. It has been managed by the Corporation of London for over 120 years. We are one of three clubs who are based on the course and who enjoy regular tee times in order to play weekly competitions and matches against other clubs.

Needs water
The whole course needs to be watered especially if they are going to spike the greens as it makes them very slow bumpy, or fast and unreadable as it pushes the ball way off line, the fairways no longer need to worry about the enemy landing the German aircraft on a gem as the war is over so start levelling the fairways or drop the price.Reviewer Rating

Parkland Cracker
A nicely laid out course with some interesting & challenging holes. It makes you think in places & you don't always need driver off the tee.
The greens were only so-so, they needed a cut.
Also thanks to the 4 ball who blanked me for 5 holes & kept me behind them!

Course condition
I have to say for the winter we have had the green keeping staff have done a great job.Winter tee?s are in play, but looking at the grass tee?s a lot of work has gone into them for the season ahead. Greens have been in play all winter but in good condition and with the resent dry weather
They are really coming on.

In the woods
A Braid course so what’s not to like as 18 holes carved through gaps in Epping Forest. There are though dog walkers here & there as it’s public access but for the green fee it’s amazing value & the course is perfectly playable & enjoyable. Greens may be a tadge slower than your high end clubs but it’s hard to find true fault.Reviewer Rating

Great value
Fantastic value for seniors on a Monday (?15) and the course is in very good condition. On paper, it should be a easy course, but the tight, tree-lined fairways and severe slopes require you to play your way around.Reviewer Rating

Carved in Epping Forest mature tree line parkland course with tight fairways. So course management comes into play. Undulating hilly fairway with not many hazards what I could see? Fairway and greens were in good condition. The greens were quick with subtle brakes. Bunkers looked hard. Would recommend and at £15 mid-week great valveReviewer Rating
