What The Club Says
Situated in Markinch near Glenrothes and set within 140 acres of superb woodland, this beautiful layout opened in 1983 and, with a par of 71 and measuring 6,300 yards from the men's tees, is a good challenge for golfers of all abilities.
The course has hosted many PGA events including the Scottish Assistants Championship and with its close proximity to St Andrews is the ideal venue for the visiting golfer. With the natural contours being the inspiration behind the layout, the course is a fine example of the best in traditional parkland design.

Cracking Parkland course
Balbirnie is a terrific parkland course. 6,000+ yards from the yellow tees.Lots of variety in design across the 18 holes, which each hole distinctive.
With many trees lining the fairways, it makes for many challenging tee shots.
The fairway bunkers are well positioned too.
Once up at the greens, they were in very good condition and putted very true.

Thoroughly enjoyed my round here, would play again, course was excellent for the time of year. A bit wet after heavy rainfall the day before but nothing to complain about.Reviewer Rating

Well Worth the Visit
Fabulous Course in great Condition Very fast Greens but a pleasure to playEveryone made us feel welcome including the Pro and the Staff in the clubhouse

Balbirnie failings in evidence
As usual for Balbirnie at this time of year, there were loads of leaves lying on the semi rough and on the fairways. This is particularly annoying when it can be very difficult to find your ball in the middle of the fairway ! Balbirnie' s worst feature though is always the poor drainage that is evident at every hole. Standing water on a hill is something that just should'nt happen.(Round played: Oct 2019 - Score: 102 Handicap: 24.9)
