The best course in Derbyshire

The best course in Derbyshire

shame its closing!!
cracking little course. Good variation of holes and lots of challenge despite a lack distance. The course was very wet today and the green were very slow but this did not detract from the enjoyment of a great course with beautiful views.(Round played: Dec 2020 - Score: 79 Handicap: 10.9)

Muddy
Super muddy and wet. Course is closing down at the end of Decemeber so not int the best condition although weather didn't help(Round played: Dec 2020 - Score: 94 Handicap: 23.1)

Cracking course - play while you can!
Fave course in region, Great views, well maintained greens and fairways. Closing at end of year as the building has been purchased as a wedding venue but no plans to maintain course (my understanding). Play it while you can.(Round played: Oct 2020 - Score: 84 Handicap: 22.5)

Love this course.
The course wss in immaculate condition. Dry but it was bloody hot so no surprise. Ive heard rumours this course is about to close which would be a massive disappointment. The round imo was super cheap £14!! 1 of the best around for the money(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 92 Handicap: 21.3)

Get in Quickly Course Closing Down
the course was wet through but still presented in a fair and playable fashion. Unfortunately it is closing to be solf off to a developer. this is a great municipal layout that i had my first event club memberhsip with ovwer 40 years ago. This will no longer be a route into the game for others and it is a damn shame. the course has great views and excellent challenging short holes.Footpaths cut across it but the walkers/golfers /dogs dont cause each other an issue. It is such a shame that this facility is beoing lost for ever. With a little financial invetsment it could be an absolute gem. Happy to return and savour it for the final time.

Excellent condition for the time of year
Course is in great condition especially compared to the high end courses which are reamining open that shouldnt be. Great value for money

A Quiet Gem, Soon go be Gone?
I have lived locally to Allestree Park Golf Club for many years and have only just played here, well now don't I feel foolish... the GC is in consultation as the house has been sold and the new owners are not interested in running a Golf Course, this means there is s possibility the APGC could soon be no more!Well I hope that isn't the case as APGC is marvellous, undulating hills, great views, a punishing course but with high rewards for those that dare! The course was in good condition albeit a little boggy from the rain, it has still been well kept, very slow greens on a wet and misty morning turned into very fast greens for the latter half of the round as they dried out.
A must after most 18s is the Clubhouse, whilst dated, it offers a fair range of products and whilst the inside is a little drab if you sit outside, with the view of the garden over towards the lake, this more than makes up for the dates decor, the lady on the bar was pleasant and helpful.
All in all, this GC may not be here for much longer and I would thoroughly recommend playing it of you can, you'll not be disappointed... unless you dislike hills...

Vast potential - shame...
The conditions of the greens are just not good enough. However, the potential considering the layout and views of the course could make it one of the best in the area. Needs investment and a little TLC.

Great for the price
I believe this is a council run course and as far as they go this is one of the better ones. I enjoyed the variety of holes, with lots of different hazards. The course is very hilly and gives you a good workout so not good if you are not too fit. It is a cheap course and isn't too long so is very good for beginners. As it is council run you have to beware of dog walkers, which in turn sometimes means dog pooh(although it is minimal) Worth a play and I have been back a few times each year for the past few years.
