Slow Play to Become a Thing of the Past at Tudor Park
Slow play is an age old problem for a vast number of golf clubs across the British Isles.
Tudor Park, a Marriott Hotel and Country club have decided to tackle this problem head on and whilst doing so help raise money for a local charity, the Heart of Kent Hospice.
On Thursday the 7th of February Jason Muller, Club Professional, and Fraser Liston, Director of Golf at Tudor Park attempted to play 18 holes in less than 2 hours, proving that golf doesn’t have to take the whole morning.
In fact, the duo sped round the championship golf course in just 100 minutes, making it back to the club house in time for breakfast. The world record in completing an 18-hole golf course, within R&A regulations, is 29 minutes. The average game at Tudor Park takes around four hours, so the 100 minute game has set a new local record.
“It was just two degrees out there, but within a few holes it felt like it was 35degrees as we were going at quite a fast pace and carrying half a set of golf clubs each on our backs,” said Jason. “We did it to raise money for charity, but hopefully we have inspired others who don’t get enough time to play golf that the game doesn’t have to take all afternoon and you can have as much fun, and even more exercise, by playing fast.”
They were sponsored by club members and raised money for the Heart of Kent Hospice, the hotel’s charity of the year, bringing the annual total raised so far to £1,200 (check)
