Must have golf training aids to improve your game

The key to getting better at golf is the same as all other things - the more you do it, the better you will get. Weekly rounds and driving range sessions are certain to see your game steadily improve over time. But there are ways you can truly make your practice sessions optimal. Here are some training aids that you must have if you want to see your golf game improve this year!

Alignment Sticks

Alignment Sticks

Alignment is hands down one of the most important aspects of your golf game. Without consistent alignment, every shot is as good as a shot in the dark. Alignment sticks are a really solid way to visualise and improve your alignment on the driving range. As well as alignment they can also be used to improve your ball striking and help you keep the clubhead square at impact. You are certain to see quick improvement once you add these to you training kit

Grip Training Aid

Grip Training Aids

An even more important aspect to your golf game after alignment has to be your grip. A poor grip that is often changing will kill your consistency. Slotting one of these golf grip training aids on your club will improve your grip immediately, giving you perfect hand placement and feel over your club. Eventually the grip will become muscle memory, and your ball striking abilities will shoot up majorly. Worth noting Scottie Scheffler is often seen using one of these - that says plenty for me!

Speed Sticks

Speed Sticks

Clubhead speed is a key determining factor in how far the ball goes. However, as your clubhead speed rises, your accuracy becomes prone to dropping, as you swing viciously at the poor golf ball destined to find itself amongst the trees.

If you swing at 100%, you will have next to no control over the club at impact, so most golfers swing at around 70%. These numbers are not cemented, but you can increase the speed at which you can comfortably and accurately swing the club.

Speed sticks are a great way to do this. As you swing with added weight, your body adapts to the weight and speed you are now swinging at. Over time you will become comfortable with this additional speed, meaning you will be able to swing your clubs faster and more comfortably.

Chipping Net

Chipping Net

I often find that it is quite hard to get reliable chipping practice done. I would rather spend my time on the driving range hitting longer shots and drives, and practice greens are often crowded and short of space. Getting one of these small and portable chipping nets allows you to just about practice your short game accuracy anywhere and anytime. If your short game needs improvement, don’t shy away from getting one of these for the back garden!

Air Flow Balls

Air Flow Balls

Air Flow balls are another great way to practice your ball striking and chipping when you are confined of space. With these you will still get a true representation of how the ball would fly after impact, without the fear of smashing a window!

However, if you asked every golfer in the entire world what they need to improve on the most, the majority would say putting. If you asked every golfer in the world what they practice the least, chances are the majority will also say putting!

Although fixing your slice off the tee feels important because straight drives have the glitz and the glamour, the putter is the club you use the most during your round, therefore making it the most important. Spending time working on your putting can be a real tough test, but if you truly want your scores to drop, this is where your money is made!

Rife Electric Putting Cup

Electric Putting Cup

This automatic ball returner from Rife is a must have training aid if you want to see improvements on the green. You can simply use this on the carpet at home, or pair it up with a putting mat. This training aid will help all aspects of your putting, mainly helping you send the ball on the perfect line every time. If you are accurate and your putt ends up in the cup, your ball will be returned right at your feet, saving you that dreaded walk to bring the ball back!

The Rife putting mat is also a great tool to use to work on your putting at home!

Putting Mirror

Putting Mirror

There are many key aspects to your putting stroke, alignment, keeping the clubhead square and many other fine details. A putting mirror is a great training tool that helps you check that your positioning and alignment is all in the correct place to give you that perfect putting stroke.

Putting Arches

Putting Arches

Putting arches are one of the most seen training aids on the practice green. Putting arches give you a true visualisation of the ideal path to the hole, giving you instant feedback on each of your attempts to find the cup. If your putting accuracy needs improvement, these are a great way to find that improvement - and there are bonus points too for making you look like a true professional on the practice green!

Which of these training aids are you most likely to give a try this year?
