Murrayshall, which is located just a short drive from Perth, has reported a stunning surge in its junior membership numbers after launching a drive to encourage more youngsters to take up the game of golf.

As part of a dedicated approach to inspire the next generation of golfers aged between 6 and 18, the luxury Perthshire estate has seen its junior section rise to 60 members off the back of a successful junior programme. Around half of the new members joined in the last few months, which marks a 42% increase since the start of the year.

Under the expert guidance of Head PGA Professional Robin Smith, who brings over 35 years of international experience, junior golfers of all skill levels have gained invaluable instruction throughout the school holidays, learning the fundamentals of golf across Murrayshall’s two scenic parkland golf courses and pristine practice areas.

The coaching sessions are specifically designed to help develop essential skills in a fun and informal environment ensuring young golfers remain engaged from the outset. Providing great energy and creativity, the junior programme covers the basics of every facet of the game and helps youngsters build new friendships with other members.

"It’s incredibly encouraging to see such a positive uptake in junior golf at Murrayshall," said Robin, who has coached in four different continents around the world. "We’re always looking to make golf easily accessible and appealing to local golfers so seeing more youngsters make use of the best-in-class facilities gives us great pride as they are integral to the future of golf and our long-term vision," he added.

Later this summer, Murrayshall will host a Mixed Junior Open on Monday 4 August at an attractive entry fee of £15 to help encourage even more local golfers and those further afield, while in April the venue played host to 20 up-and-coming junior golfers in a Faldo Futures Qualifier.

The estate also hosted the Scottish Boys Under-16 Open last July where competitors enjoyed a fun challenge on the Championship Course - with the greens running as fast as 11 on the stimpmeter - further showcasing Murrayshall’s commitment to junior golf.

Providing the perfect environment for enjoying a round of golf with far-reaching views of the stunning Perthshire countryside, the estate incorporates the 18-hole Championship course measuring 6,100 yards and shorter Lynedoch 9-hole course - a perfect option for both beginner golfers and juniors as it is quicker to play. Both layouts have benefitted from significant recent investment which has seen Murrayshall rise into the Top 11 stay & play venues in Scotland. The golf courses also feature yellow, green and blue tee markers to ensure varied yardages and handicaps from each tee.
