Carnoustie Named Best Course at World Golf Awards
The legendary Championship Course at Carnoustie was a big winner at the 6th World Golf Awards, receiving the accolade of World's Best Golf Course 2019. Revered as a regular part of the Open Championship, the links in Angus has recently enhanced its facilities with the unveiling of the new Links House, an establishment that complements the layout that has crowned the likes of Ben Hogan, Tom Watson, Padraig Harrington and Francesco Molinari as the Champion Golfer of the Year.
Earlier this year, Golfshake's Kieran Clark and Andrew Picken described the experience of playing Carnoustie on the Podcast, with written features including a course review, a glance at what makes the venue special, and how it feels to make an unlikely birdie on the iconic Hogan's Alley.
Elsewhere, Singapore's Sentosa Golf Club was named the World's Best Golf Club, while Dubai Hills Golf Club by Jumeriah was the World's Best New Golf Course. Madeira was bestowed with the recognition of World's Best Emerging Destination, having seen an increase in visitor numbers this past season.
