PUMA IGNITE PWRADAPT DISC Golf Shoe Review

REVIEW: Puma Ignite Golf Shoe

By: | Sun 12 May 2019

Review by Golfshake Ambassador Andrew Picken

Part of PUMA's IGNITE family of golf shoes, the PWRADAPT DISC combines several technologies to create added support and stability through the swing, while DISC tightening system has been introduced for convenience with a micro-adjusting dial system that quickly and easily secures your feet for a locked-in, consistent and custom fit.

My first wearing of my PUMA Ignite PWRADAPT DISC was a delight. When I first checked them I wasn’t sure that the modern training shoe design appealed to me but I have to say that any reservations I may have had are completely gone due to the comfort and performance levels I enjoyed when using them. They were great to wear straight out of the box.

Looks

They look modern, light and I grew to really appreciate the colour and style. I would describe my experience of these PUMA shoes as: very positive with my playing partner event commenting that they were “smart looking”. The grey colour goes with most of my golf clothing and they didn’t look dirty and unclean even after the dirtiest and wettest rounds of golf. I have also had the chance to use them recently on the harder ground in Spain and they also performed to an equally high standard

PUMGA Ignite Shoes

Feel

They were very easy to clean. I liked the lightness of the weight of the shoe and this added to the comfort when playing. They also provide good stability during the swing.

Performance

Very comfortable. The three-dimensional traction and cushioning gave amazing comfort. I was genuinely surprised at how comfortable these shoes were straight out of the box. I have been used to having to break in shoes before use but these didn’t need any such fuss. They were like slippers immediately. Having used them in Spain they deliver superb performance levels on all forms of surface and ground. These shoes worked well in the depth of winter and then just as well on the harder ground overseas. They passed my biggest personal test by being completely waterproof in the wet but then light and comfortable in the sun.. Great for all weather would be my assessment.

Pros

I give the thumbs up to PUMA for doing exactly what it says on the label. They have produced a smart looking, comfortable and waterproof shoe. I am really looking forward to getting around the course as the harder ground develops with the better weather in my well manufactured PUMA Ignite.

Cons

The modern training shoe design may not be to taste of everyone. I was very easily converted as they are so comfortable to wear. They may not have the classic old school styling I usually favour but that is actually a bonus given that they look modern and are extremely comfortable

The Bottom Line

Will I ever be as cool as Rickie Fowler? Never. However, it doesn’t matter so long as my feet are dry and I play golf in comfort in whatever weather that is thrown at me. These shoes deliver that in spades.
