Connect With Your Game - Bunkers

By: Golf Shake | Wed 04 Apr 2018

For many golfers landing in any bunker is the worst case scenario out on the golf course. Bad memories of being stuck in a bunker for 5 shots and struggling with the technique to get out can haunt any golfers brain and cause poor technique when you find yourself in the sandpit.

In this part of Andy Carter's short series he discusses the importance of creating a correct setup and creating a situation where you are able to get up-and-down much more frequently and effectively than usual.

A lot of this stems from subtle tips like the amount of sand being hit when in a bunker. A lot of the time golfers will take a large and lengthy swing and decelerate into the ball in order to get out of the sandtrap, this creates a large divot and eliminates any speed which would help you successfully get out of the bunker.

Carter focuses on initially getting a correct set-up into the bunker shot, then combining a correct length of swing with a strong and short divot in order to get the perfect shot out of the bunker that you desire.

Andy Carter is a Golf Coach and Teaching Professional at the European Tour Performance Institue at the Jumeriah Golf Estates in Dubai.  Andy also provides daily tuition and interactive content on his Youtube channel Improve My Golf.
