Four Week Chipping Programme: Week 1 - Assessing The Situation

By: Phillip Akers | Thu 06 Jul 2017 | Comments ()

For many amateur golfers their short games rely on their favoured club, they become afraid to play any other with a higher or lower lofted club because they have not practiced it. This can lead to a situation where they are having to play a harder shot than they actually need too.

Phil Akers, a senior teaching professional at the Belfry believes that reading the situation before attempting your shot is the most important and crucial aspect of assessing your short game shot. By reading the situation, you are able to make the most effective and efficient choice of shot type helping you achieve the best result. Some players will pick their favourite club, even if it isnt neccessarily the best option, Akers believes that initially understanding the situation in front of you is the key to making a successful shot.
