a strange track

The scorecard makes it look like an easy course, but the par 3's play very long: 190, 206, 183, 229 yds. Bear in mind these yardages are to the middle of the green, and as luck would have it, 2 of the pin placements were back pins this day.

Oddball course

As the title should indicate, this course has some strange holes. The 2nd and 3rd holes require lay up tee shots unless you have tour quality distance. Even with well executed lay ups, you're faced with downhill lies to uphill fairways or greens with forced carry over a creek. Incidentally no. 3 is a Par 5 at almost 580 yards. Then oddly enough, every par 3, at least on this day, was 200 or more yards, thanks to back pins on every hole. The shortest one was 206 into the wind! Respectfully to the type of players on this course, the caliber of skill required to play the Blues certainly wasn't a match.

Strange design Par 5's and long Par 3's

It was the first round of the year and course conditions were naturally soggy from the winter thaw. Nonetheless, hard to complain after a 5 month hiatus in Canada! The par 5's no.3 & no.16 don't allow the use of a driver due to hazards. To add insult, the subsequent 2nd shot is on a downhill lie. One can say it's a difficult challenge and requires good course management, but it also doesn't reward the player that makes a good tee shot on a par 5. As I said, it's an odd design choice and some quirky holes, but hard to complain when it sunny and not having played for 5 months!

Long Par 3's and 5's

We played from the Blues and the "shortest" par 3 was 183! Par 5's play longer due to forced carries and awkward lies. It looks like an easy course from the tee box and scorecard, but it ain't easy.
