What the club says: This picturesque course encapsulates the surrounding valley beautifully and offers distracting views over the Mediterranean. The front nine was designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido, with the back nine designed by the club's technical staff giving the course an entertaining mix of holes. All levels of golfer will be challenged on this testing track but will be rewarded for bold play. The par three 6th is a formidable prospect that requires an accurate tee shot down to a well-guarded green 200 yards away.

Good course

this was a typical course for this part of the Costa del Sol, a course with good bones and panoramic views. The course was in good condition, they are replacing 4 of the greens so on temporise in June 23 but not enough to spoil the round. A fair challenge of golf at a very reasonable green fee.

This used to be my favorite course in Malaga played it about 20 times then they turned it into a joke course with the par 5 9th. I am a single figure handicap golfer and this is the worsed hole I have ever played. Unless this hole is changed then me and a party of 24 we bring will not be playing this course what a waste and what a shame a great course spoilt whoever decided to do this needs to be made to play it again and again and they hopefully will realize what they know about course design or lack of it.

I really like this course because when you get to the ninth the views are just spectacular. It meanders up into the hills for 9 holes and then back again. It provides a good test of golf requiring accuracy over length. The fairways and greens were a delight to play on this occasion. Ladies rest assured there are strategically placed toilets.
Be mindful that the car parking can be a challenge at times when people are trying to come and go. You can walk the course, but suggest you take a buggy.

Great Course

Excellent course, fast greens, good tees and fairways, some paths for a buggy are a little difficult to negotiate, otherwise an excellent outing

Good course and good value. Just need to space tee times as too many bottlenecks

Lovely course

Lovely course in great condition but what on earth is that remodelled 9th hole about. Making it a par 5 may have got the par up to 72 but it is a ridiculous hole which plays uphill round a dogleg and where the ball can run back 100 yds down the hill.

Santa Maria

There is a bit of a wait to start but once past the first few holes the pace of play speeds up. This course goes out for 9 into the mountains and returns to the clubhouse. It is a good challenge for most players and the course is well maintained. The staff are most helpful and there is usually a 'starter' to ensure pace of play at the onset. It is one of the more cost-effective courses in the area. They do have practice facilities which is a bonus if you like to warm up.

A tricky layout but more playable tahn some in the area

This was my first time playing Santa Maria and we did so after a morning of torrential rain. The greens were obviously a bit soft as a result but the course did hold up fairly well. This course is laid out almost like a classic out and back course heading high up into the hills on the front nine and back down on the way back. Unlike other courses in the area the weave in and out of the hills, the holes are very clearly defined. There are no real tricked up holes with ridiculously narrow fairways (except for the 4th hole) and there are no blind shots. In places there are bail out areas to the left of the fairway you are playing although if you do hit it wide there is a high likelihood you will lose your ball. The par fives are all fairly challenging, including the newly designed 9th hole. It is not a course you can over power, rather you have to pick your spot and play for fairways and greens. The collection of par 3 holes are great and the location of the ponds are very cleverly done. Overall, it is a lot more playable and fun to play than it first appears.

Beautiful golf course

I've played 6 courses in the Marbella region & I rate this as the best. Not the longest, but dog-legs and water features add to the challenge. It's also quite tight, with drives over water to add to the challenge. Only downside was there isn't a range to warm up on.
