What the club says: The Shropshire has 3 excellent loops of 9 holes. The Gold Course is the longest of the three and is beautifully laid out among winding streams and picturesque ponds. The Silver Course is the most demanding of the three courses with some challenging and memorable holes – including the finest finishing hole in Shropshire. The Blue Course offers a fine balance of challenging golf holes with spectacular views across Shropshire and the Welsh Border.

Excellent all round

After reading the reviews on here we decided to make the trip over from Leicester. Golf course was very well organised. 10 minute tee intervals gave you time to play each hole. Was under 4 hours for a weekend which is good these days. Greens were the standout. I’ve not played in faster or truer this year. Great effort. Will be back with our society next year.

I'd forgotten how good this course is! Fairways and greens were immaculate and although not the most challenging course out there each hole gives you something to think about when playing them

These are by far the best greens I’ve played on in the area. Second to none. Fantastic.

A really well kept course

I've played the Shropshire many times, on Blue, Silver & Gold. The course is always in good to excellent condition come winter or summer. The club tend to have strong pin positions, particularly on the par 3s offering a good shot to reward a birdie. The par 5 9th on Silver is one of the best finishing holes I've played, particularly for the lower/longer hitting handicapper. It takes a great 2nd shot to hit a very small green that is heavily protected on the right with water and has a tree in the way on the left blocking a wayward fade shot. Risk or reward at it's best!

Only concern for me on my recent visit was being held to a strict 2 hour 9 hole round whilst playing medal in a mixed ability society otherwise we would have missed our back 9 tee times and been held in between another group. This added unnecessary pressure caused by the course cramming in tee times a little tight. As the opening group we made it round the first 9 holes in 1hr 40mins but we were conscious of time, rushed a little more than normal so it took a bit of shine off the round.

Great golf day

Played the Shropshire for the first time on a group golf day. Bacon/coffee and 27 holes for ?31.50 was great value.

Pro shop, bar staff and most of the members were welcoming. (Slight issue with a group behind being a bit rude about pace of play when we were all three balls and took less than 4 hours to get round 18).

That aside it was a great day, scorching weather but the course was well watered and the tees, fairways, greens and bunkers were all in very good condition. The greens were very quick which made it testing.

Nice variety of holes with water hazards and dog legs. Fairly long but not too hilly. Great to have three different loops of nine. Would definitely return for another round.
