What the club says: City of Belfast golf club is situated adjacent to the City of Belfast playing fields. It is located about 8 miles north of the City Centre and is extremely accessible from the M2 motorway. The compact layout of this mature parkland course has been extended this year with the addition of a new feature hole and the new course has the potential of becoming one of the most challenging short courses in Ireland.

The course layout is very good and designed to give every kind of golfer a good round. I played the course when it should have been at its peak pretty much in the middle of summer. The greens were slow and unpredictable, the bunkers hadn't been wrecked for a long time and there was sand bands left lying open on fairways and round areas providing some very unnecessary, extra sand practice. With a bit of thought and care put into maintaining the course this could be an excellent spot, as it was it will be a long time before I go back to this course!

An enjoyable 9 holes for an improving beginner. I'd played quite a bit at Ballyearl and this certainly is a step up. Every hole is enjoyable to play, some with challenging water features to avoid! If you hit it at the right time it is incredibly peaceful and is a great place to unwind and enjoy a few hours play. I've never sampled the food or facilities, although I do remember getting a cheap bottle of Diet Coke as it was going out of date. Good stuff.

as a beginner i found this course to be challenging, but not too difficult to put me off playing the game
