superb greens

Played roundwood today for the first time. Well impressed. Course in very good condition and the greens were he best I have seen on any course I have played this year. Miles better than the more expensive courses. Course narrow in places so very testing. I was happy to break 100. (scored 99). Look forward to playing it again and highly recommend it to anybody. Staff very friendly and a big thumbs up to the greenkeepers. Only small gripe I have is that maybe a few pointers to some of the tees in some parts of the course (got lost a couple of times)

Never seen a course go downhill so much. Sprinklers left unattended so greens and bunkers were literally under water. The fairways were like concrete so started aiming for the rough so you could have a better surface to hit off. Honestly become the worst course I've ever played and feel robbed of ?20

Great course, but the staff ? Rude !

Over the last four years I have played this course many times with friends and society colleagues and it is a lovely little find in the local area. Course is challenging in some parts and interesting in others. Five par 3’s is always good for society prizes so we do visit maybe 5-10 times a year. Course is always in decent condition. Unfortunately there are no hot drinks and food available, but there is cold stuff which is something new and appreciated. The massive downside to this course is the lady who presides over the course, who is the rudest person I have met at a course. I was amazed to watch from the car park, having arrived early, the way she stormed in and out of the club hut shouting at golfers and demanding they did this and that. When our turn came to pay we were greeted with an attitude which I can only assume is from someone who hates their job, hates golfers and wishes she was elsewhere. It has taken encouragement from probably 6 of our society lads to write this in a review but every single time any of us go there we wince at the idea of having to engage with this lady. It’s not just this once, it’s every time we go and in the past we have also been subjected to her on the course in the buggy accusing us of not paying, then finding out we have and receiving no apology. Roundwood, if you want this course to have a rep for being friendly and inviting you need to install some manners abs etiquette into the golf shop. On our recent visit we stood outside and actually contemplated walking away having been treated so badly. I also notice some other reviews on here which mention “the lady”. But the course, great little gem !

Amazing Greens and a Hidden Gem

We have played this course a lot over the years and on Monday's its ?10 for 18 holes which is an absolute bargain. The greens were the best we had played on in 2020, which is saying something as we are in March and I have played 30 odd rounds by then. Its a short course, but some really nice holes which gently test your abilities. If you haven't been and you are local, then you need to get there. Its not a course to drive miles to as there is no clubhouse and its an honesty box payment system, but if you are in the local area go play it and enjoy !

Unusual

This is the first time I've been to a golf course that doesn't have a clubhouse.
There is a cabin that you enter in which you sign your name in a book and enter your green fee. You then place your money in an envelope which you place in an honesty box. No credit cards. Cash only.
There is a bar but it only opens when the course is busy. As it was quite when I played it was closed. The course though was in great condition, a hidden gem in the middle of Rotherham.

Course in great nick.

The first time I've played here in a while and I've got to say it's in as good a condition as I've ever seen it. The greens are in good nick and are as fast as I can ever remember them.
£10/round on Mondays too. Bargain!

Great course!!

Some of the members here can be very arrogant and you get the feeling you're playing on their back garden, however, great course, great challenge, worth doing..... just ignore the miserable members!!

Great value Monday golf

Great little course. Not the longest but some good holes that would not look out of place on some of its more illustrious neighbours. Hardly anyone on so generally a quick round. Only real downside is lack of refreshments and food.
