What the club says: Established in 1891, The Northwest Golf Club has often been dubbed by Cecil Barcroft, the 'St Andrews if of Ireland' as it draws its links comparisons with that of the famous Scottish links.
A founder member of the Golfing Union of Ireland, the course lies between the picturesque Moldy Mountains and the Sea. The surrounding scenery is magnificent. The Club boasts a modern, comfortable Clubhouse with catering, bar and locker room facilities. It has been dubbed by Cecil Barcroft, the St. Andrews of Ireland.
There is much in common between St. Andrews and ‘Lisfannon’, such as concealed runs and bumps approaching the Greens that look easy enough to run onto. Difficulties too, do not always catch the eye from the tee so it is very much a case of careful shot selection and keeping the driver firmly in the bag. The holes are very varied with many sandy knocks and pleasant undulations but the general tendency is flattish.

Course in brillaint condition as always. After all the rain we have had expected itto be wetter but only 2/3 puddles on whole course. Greens in fantastic nick. Really is fantastic course and would recommend to anyone,

Course in excellent condition including greens, fairways and tee boxes. A biting wind on the first 4/5 holes doesn't help the round get off to great start but when the wind died down it showed the beauty of the classic links course.

Very difficult course, but enjoyable. Drive was the most important shot, difficult to recover from a poor drive. Great club and great facilities

Very enjoyable - sharp short game needed to score. When was the last time you played a 78 yard par 3? Will be back !

Well maintained links course that rarely plays the same way twice. Hitting the fairways is a must particulalry in summer time as the rough can be very challenging. Set in a area of outstanding natural beauty this course will endear the most avid golf aficionado.
