What the club says: A picturesque parkland course opened in 1926 and is set in 120 acres. Considerable improvements have been carried out since, whilst ensuring that the original design and character of the course remain today. Situated just of the A3 in New Malden, this wonderful parkland course offers a fair challenge at a competitive price so close to central London.

Not worth it

Average track at best and unfortunately very rude and unfriendly me members. Slow play across the course and groups unwilling to let me people through. All in all there are far better courses for the same prices. Wouldn’t go again.

Great course, makes you think about club selection. Ample parking for my orange van after hard day tiling.

Nice course - tight with tough rough

A real 'thinking course', with several doglegs (some at literal right angles!) and a brook running through it meaning club selection / strategy are crucial. Although not the longest on paper, the design means you are hitting plenty of long seconds with risk/reward tee shots too.

Fairways are fair width but the rough when we played was brutal.

Greens ran true and bunkers decent.

Would definitely play again.

Great Variation, shame about the A3

First visit to the club. The tees, fairways and bunkers were in excellent condition. The greens looked as if they had been cut too low too early so were a bit bare but still run fast and true. The first cut and rough were fair and playable.

Every hole offered a different challenge with well placed hazards, including the wide Combe brook, to affect all handicaps. Greens were fun to putt on due to the many undulations and levels. The 7th is a lovely looking hole.

The clubhouse was very nice with a patio (half of which was being re-laid) overlooking the putting green and first tee. Food wasn't being served at the bar due to a function in the restaurant. We had to walk to the halfway house for a sausage bap (hence the low food & drink score).

Only issues were the unusual (mandatory) requirement to stop at the halfway house until the next group arrive, which I imagine on a busy day or (like us) when you are a 2-ball stuck behind two 4-balls could be frustrating, and the noise from the close by A3 road which was particularly loud throughout on the day we played.

Really interesting urban course

Welcomed as a guest here and the heaven's opened an hour before tee off... and it kept raining. The course was flooded but I'm not sure if many courses could have withstood the rain. But the holes are brilliantly designed and the course is in good condition. Not the longest course, but interesting and challenging. Can't wait to come back

Great course that is tricky with 2 brooks running through it. Greens are some of the best I've played in Surrey and even in these tricky conditions remain good. Very friendly staff and a very unstuffy club that seem to focus on us having an enjoyable round of golf and a few drinks afterwards. Well worth a visit.

Best value in London?

I played this course last weekend with three friends, after it had been recommended to us by another friend. Am so glad he did recommend it, the green fee for visitors is only £30, even at weekends. During these COVID times, when there is very little to keep us occupied, that is astonishing value.

The course itself is nice enough, a little hemmed in perhaps, but given the limited space it occupies in SW London, it's a cracking little course. Tees and greens are in great condition, the fairways a little parched, but given the summer we've had, that is no different to all other courses in the area. Practice facilities are limited, no doubt because of the limited space. But at £30 a round, who cares. This is astonishing value for a weekend visitor.

Compact and challenging

Hadn’t played at Malden for a couple of years so a Sunday evening round was to find it pleasingly welcoming and as ever a course that makes you plot your way round. Get through the front 9 and shoulders can open on a series of Par 5 holes that ask for shape as well as direction. Great to indulge in the hospitality at the finish - great barman!
