What The Club Says

There is an old-fashioned air about golf at Wimbledon - it has at least one supreme virtue that of naturalness; those clumps of gorse and the deep ravines where the birches grow were put there by the hand of nature herself, who if she be not so cunning, is at any rate infinitely more artistic than any golfing architect.

Played in 2025. It was a very pretty course to play and quite challenging.

Enjoy the history

Because the character of the course & the setting is fundamental. There are no bunkers & it’s all played on common land so walkers & dog walkers are plenty in evidence so you’ll need your patience. The holes aren’t marked because the 2 clubs start on different holes. But the greens are supreme but to get there there are plenty of tight approaches, the ball was bounding on & I regularly failed to stop it going through the back & either losing it in the bushes or taking penalties. Not sure I’ll rush back but wouldn’t rule it out for now either. It is a bargain Green fee after all. But it’s just not a course that appeals to me I’m afraid & doesn’t suit my game as I don’t hit irons long enough or more importantly straight enough

Nice welcome from club professional, not. First thing out of his mouth, wasn't 'welcome to London Scottish GC, we hope you enjoy your day with us', but 'Where's your red shirt? You can't play without wearing a red shirt' I was wearing a jacket, as it was a bit chilly, so unzipped and showed the evidence. Not a good way to greet your visitors. Apparantly, it's a local bylaw that golfers have to wear a 'Pillar Box Red' polo shirt, or jumper/top. They do sell them in the very tiny pro-shop. Good spread of breakfast options, sausage or bacon rolls, fresh fruit and pastries on offer. Husband and Wife team. Chef. Adam and Front of House , Stacey were really friendly and made visitors feel comfortable and at ease, in the grand, ancient surroundings of the present clubhouse that dates back to 1897 when it was built. No practice facilities, apart from a very small putting green, that wasn't in the best of conditions. Nothing else. Not a long course, with accuracy a premium, rather than length. No bunkers, tight fairways, meandering it's way through woodland, all added up to an enjoyable round. A word of warning, pedestrians, joggers and dog walkers on Wimbledon Common, just amble through the course and often look at the golfers with distain, as if it's our common, not yours. Thankfully my playing partners stopped me on a couple of backswings, as joggers appeared from the trees during my swing, so had to wait until they'd made their way across the fairways. Very nice chicken and vegetable curry, with peppered rice, naan bread and poppadoms, filled you up nicely after your round.
Worth a visit, if you want an unusual, golfing experience. Would I return to play again, probably not, as there are better courses in the area.

Good quirky course. It's an experience for sure. Not long but very tight and great fun to play.

Nice tight course

Pretty nice course, short but tricky! Watch out for the dog walkers as well, who we caught a four letter tirade off, even though we shouted fore well in advance. Plus you must wear a red polo shirt! Bit strange but you won't be allowed out on the course. Nice tees and quality greens, worth a trip.

Nice short course in Central London

Course in good condition, frustrating with walkers and runners who don't look before crossing fairways.

In the heart of Wimbledon

Excellent course taking into account it's on a common! Best greens in Surrey by a fair shout! Found that sharing with Wimbledon common golf club so course got over crowded and tough with unobservant walkers even though golfers wearing pillar box red polos. Excellent and friendly service at London Scottish staff and members
