What the club says: At 5851 yards, the course is short enough not to be tiring but tough enough to demand good golf shots.

In 1913, the original course was laid out by Robert Simpson, the professional at Carnoustie, of which the first four holes still survive today. Since 1950 the club has had an association with the MacKinnon family of Drambuie fame. It was Gena MacKinnon who bought Braehead Farm to protect the interests of the club, and leased the land to the club in 1950 so that the club could be extended to 18 holes. Although not a golfer, Mrs MacKinnon enjoyed performing the opening ceremony of the club every year. The driver she used has pride of place in the Gena MacKinnon lounge in the clubhouse.

Interesting wee course, a few poor holes, mostly enjoyable.

Quite a climb- fairways rather lush, even for a parkland course. Greens quite small on some holes. The 17th is just a daft Hole

A good course and excellent layout for all handicaps. Unfortunately when I visited the greens where shockingly bad, I had to give up putting because it was so frustrating. If the greens where a decent standard then this course would be a must play if your in the area.

Decent value and good day oue

Course was in good condition considering recent wet weather. Greens were sanded but still looking good. Some interesting new bunkers since last time I played here. Will definitely visit again this year

Good course worth playing

Good challenging course, fairways not too hard a surface to play off. Difficult to read the greens though with lots of movement of the ball.
Wind conditions on the day made for a huge challenge but the rain held off.
Great views.

Great course

A wee bit off the beaten path for a 1st time player but once you get there and start playing a great course. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. The course itself was all kept with long wide fairways and not too dry. The greens well maintained. Definitely worth playing again.

Good course in good condition

Good course in good condition despite the recent rainfall. Greens were pretty fast but excellent. It is hilly at times but I like that type of course. The Club offered a price match for me as a visitor and at ?15 its good value. All in all a worthwhile day.

Nice wee course. Very hilly in places but not too many blind shots. Greens pretty good, course in good condition overall despite being late in the season.

Got a good welcome for the pro. Would play again ????

Challenging and hilly course but very well maintained, Lush fairways and well tended greens. Several dog legs lead to challenging holes. Good mix of short and long holes. Look up the 17th is great.
