What the club says: A mature parkland course with well wooded undulations and its picturesque situation. The course provides a variety of interesting and testing golf. The par of 69 is often not beaten, even in scratch tournaments. Notable holes are the 7th, 14th and the 15th. The seventh, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the county, provides a satisfying but testing tee shot from the plateau tee with a second shot to a well designed and double tiered green guarded by bunkers and gorse. Reputedly the first MacKenzie designed green when he was a members at Leeds Golf Club in 1900

Played for the first time - first few holes were very average but stick with it, the course seems to get better & better as your round progresses. Was in decent condition, well priced for non members on a Saturday afternoon (?25) - well worth the money.Reviewer Rating

Historic Club and Course, well worth a visit
The oldest club in Leeds, .....and it is in Leeds, inside the outer ring road, which does form the boundary of the course at its northern limits. The very first trophy for professional golfers "The Leeds Cup" given to the PGA by the club and first competed for, on this very course, back in 1902. It's the only club in Leeds to be permitted to use the City's coat of arms. I had been promising my self a round her for quite some time but never got round to it, until now. I wasn't disappointed. A mainly parkland type course, with lots of very mature trees defining the holes, undulating with a couple of steeper climbs, to the greens on the par 5 14th and the signature 170yd par3 15th. Although steeper even I, with my dodgy Achilles, didn't struggle. Just like most courses I have visited so far this year it's still recovering from the ravages of last summer in a few places, but overall it's in very good condition. Tees and greens all very good, and the greens are both true and testing, if a little on the slow side when i played which flummoxed me for a while. The rain last weekend has obviously got the grass growing again, and the next cut will speed them up I have no doubt. Nothing other than the teeing grounds on this course is flat, every fairway, an every green slopes to some degree, which makes shot choices and placement very important. I received a warm welcome from the pro on arrival and everyone I met was friendly, and I must make special mention of Chris, Graham, and Simon, the three members playing in front of me who invited me to join them for most of the round. Warm, welcoming, encouraging, and very good company, all made for an excellent mornings golf, topped off by my best score for quite some time. Should have done this years ago!Reviewer Rating

Not bad, but not great...
Sadly like many clubs who decide to tine and sand the greens there's no notification on the website so you turn up and find your round of golf is not only spoilt, but more expensive than it should be (£30 on a weekday at 12pm) The course itself was well laid out and quite picturesque once you got past the first half dozen up and down straight holes which were nice enough but nothing spectacular. Some of the fairways were bare and patchy in places which wasn't great, but I suspect partly down to the very dry weather. A decent challenge but there's better value and quality courses in Leeds for £20 at the same time of day.Reviewer Rating

Birthday boys
Arrived at lunchtime and indulged ourselves in food before the game. That was a good indicator of how the day was going to go as the food was really good value for money. Someone booked it for us so I have no idea of the cost to play but I would imagine you wouldn't get much change out of ?40 to play on Saturday. Really nice touch was the club captain coming out to the 1st to welcome us, and thank us for choosing their course and also offered a few tips . A mid afternoon tea time ensured there were no members behind us to hold them up as we played three, three balls. I was pleasantly surprised by how dry the fairways were having had all of that rain previous week in all a very good course and I would recommend it . Some very notable par 3?sReviewer Rating
